🌊 Percy 🌊

"Hey wise girl, what are you up to?" I called out to Annabeth, a goofy grin on my face.

She smiled back at me and slipped her hand into mine.

"Hanging out with you, Seaweed brain." She replied, blonde hair glimmering in the sun.

"Then lets go. I have a surprise for you." I said as I gently dragged her along to the beach.

As we got closer and closer, I could feel her lagging behind. I looked behind and saw her shuffling along the trail. Coming to a complete stop, I turned around completely and gently grabbed her chin.

"Is something wrong? Have I done something to upset you?" I asked uncertainly as Annabeth looked back at me, tears stinging in her eyes.

"No." She replied, a tear escaping her eye.

"Annabeth...." I sighed. "You know you can't lie to me."

She let a few more tears escape before collecting herself enough to reply.

"Percy, you're an amazing guy and you know that I love you...." She started, trailing off as she saw my face.

I could feel my heart sink to my feet. "I'm feeling a 'but' coming."

"But, I've thought about it and I've realised that I don't love you like I used to."

I'll admit, if she had judo flipped me right there and then, it would have hurt way less than what she had just said. She gently pulled away from my grip and gave me a small kiss on my jaw before leaving, disappearing into the forest.

I stood there in silence for a while before walking back to my cabin. People said hi to me as I walked back, but for the life of me I couldn't remember who they were. Before I knew it, I was sitting on the steps of my cabin, processing what had just happened. A three year relationship had just ended with the girl I thought I was going to spent the rest of my life with. The girl who went to the ends of the earth for me. The girl I fell into Tartarus for. The girl that I was going to ask to marry me.

Someone jumped on me from behind and immediately nuzzled my neck. I recognised the lemon shampoo straight away.

"Hey Seaweed brain. I heard that you were looking for me." Annabeth said, her hair obscuring my vision.

"I was. Not anymore." I said monotonously. Annabeth backed off, concern etched in her face.

"What's wrong?"

Out of nowhere, I snapped. I jumped to my feet and headed towards my cabin, ignoring her question. A hand grabbed my arm and forced me to look Annabeth in the eyes.

"What the hades Percy?" She said. "What got your underpants in a twist."

"I don't know." I snapped. "Why don't you love me anymore?"

Annabeth released her grip on my arm in shock. Before she could speak, I walked into my cabin and slammed the door in her face before flopping onto the bed.

"Perseus Jackson! Open this door!" She demanded.

I ignored her, rolling over and holding a pillow over to my head. To stop the noise or to smother myself to death, I had no idea. After almost twenty minutes, the knocking stopped. I rolled over again and let myself drift to sleep.

The next morning, I awoke to Piper standing over me, her face set in a scowl.

"Well good morning to you too, sunshine." I mumbled before having my sheets ripped off. "Hey!"

"You have some explaining to do Jackson." She fumed.

I rubbed my eyes as I sat up and stretched. Piper glared at me.

"What do you want to know?"

"I want to know why Annabeth is asking everyone why you're mad at her and then threatening everyone who says that they don't know." She said.

"Ask her. She should know why." I replied angrily before getting up. "Now get out Piper."

She stormed out of my cabin, slamming the door behind her. I let out an exasperated sigh before sliding on my orange camp shirt.

This is gonna be weird.
