🦉 Annabeth 🦉
It's been two weeks.
Two weeks and I'm still left in the dark about why Percy has been ignoring me and went off. But, there's been rumours. Apparently, I told him that I don't love him anymore which is completely ridiculous. One Aphrodite girl really weighed in her opinion on everything.
"You don't deserve Jackson." A red headed Aphrodite girl stormed up to me while I was eating in the pavilion with Malcolm.
"Excuse me?" I asked her, completely bewildered.
"He fell into Tartarus for you because he was so sure of the love between you two and you go and tell him that you don't love him anymore."
I could feel heat rising to my cheeks. "I never said anything even remotely like that."
"Sure you didn't," she smirked. "after all, a whore like you could never really love someone."
I grip the handle of my bone sword so tightly that I think I might shatter it. Malcom glances between the two of us, fear evident on his face.
"Say that again." I whisper, my voice low and deadly. "I dare you to."
She continued to smirk, crinkling all the freckles on her face. Malcom whispered a few choice words under his breath towards this new girl.
"I said, a whore like you could never really love someone."
I leap from the table, whipping out my bone sword and lunged for this random girl who thought that she had the right to butt into my life as if she knew anything about me. Before I reached her, a bear appeared out of nowhere and tackled me. It cocooned itself around me and took the brunt of the fall before shifting back into Frank. I looked around and the Aphrodite girl had disappeared. I yell in frustration and begin to run off when I found myself being restrained my Frank.
"Let go Frank!" I yell, struggling to get out of his iron hold.
"I can't do that Annabeth." He said softly as other ran towards us.
"What happened?" Hazel asked.
"She tried to kill that new girl." Malcom filled them in, keeping well away from my flailing body.
"Lily?" Piper sighed. "I'm sorry, she just says whatever she wants and doesn't think about the consequences."
"I don't care," I spat. "I'm going to kill her!"
"Can we take a less stabby route?" Leo asked from behind Hazel, trying to make himself as small as possible.
"Not until I get my hands on her!" I shrieked. I finally wrestled my way out of Franks strong grip only to fall into Piper's warm embrace. As soon as she wrapped her arms around me, I broke down and began to sob.
"Why?" I ask no one in particular. "Why is this happening?"
"I don't know." Piper replied as she stroked my hair.
When I finally looked up, everyone had cleared out, leaving me and Piper alone. I let Piper drag me out of the pavilion and into a small room with a bed and a side table in the big house where she shoved a cup of hot chocolate into my shaking hands.
"Thanks." I say, my voice barely above a whisper.
"It's alright. Just try and rest, ok? Promise me."
I nod mutely and Piper leaves me alone. I place the mug on the side table and curl up on the bed. I'll be honest, I haven't slept much in the last few weeks. I've been trying to process everything and draw logical conclusions but I can't understand why. Why is this happening? I don't know if it was something I did or a build up of little things that just gnawed away at him until he snapped. Whatever it was, it was enough for him to end things.
But it's not enough for me.
As I drifted off to sleep, the same dreams that have been haunting me for the last few weeks return. All I dream of are the good times we had together, our first date, our first kiss, everything. This time something was off. The colours seemed more saturated, as if something else was masking it's presence. I push past the dreams and find myself face to face with someone I've only heard about from Hazel.
"Hecate." I say with no enthusiasm.
"Annabeth Chase. A pleasure to finally meet you."
Her voice comes out distorted, as if playing from three different recordings. Her face had an ethereal beauty about it, framed by brown ringlets. A jet black dog and a familiar polecat curl themselves around Hecate's ankles before disappearing into mist, leaving me and Hecate alone.
"What do you want?" My voice came out flat, emotionless.
"To help."
That earned a raised eyebrow.
"Seriously? Gods never just want to 'help'. So cut the crap, what do you want?" I snapped.
Hecate tilted her head as if studying something mildly interesting, or disgusting.
"You are apart of something much bigger than yourself." She said mysteriously.
"Yeah yeah, I know. Kronos, the Giants, Gaia. Been there done that."
"No, something bigger than all of them."
My throat constricted. If something could be worse than Gaia or Kronos.
"No."
The word slipped out, but it was enough to make Hecate pause. She looked me up and down.
"You won't have a choice. In the end, the prophecy will be fulfilled one way or another and you'll be in the centre of it all."
My mouth suddenly felt dry as a bone. Hecate's eyes bore into me, and visions filled my head.
A castle, looming over a reflective lake. A lanky boy with red hair and a much shorter girl with bushy brown hair. Nico turning down a dark corridor, alone. A boy with green eyes, messy black hair and circular glasses facing off against a figure cloaked in darkness, and next to him.....
"Percy."
My throat closes and I can't breathe as I watch Percy and the mysterious boy face off against the darkness. The figure waves their hand and the two of them are sent sprawling to the floor. It picks Percy up by the throat and waves a hand to the other boy who's thrashing around and screaming Percy's name.
The vision cuts off as I bolt upright in the bed, knocking the covers off. My heart pounds as Hecate whispers her final words in the surrounding darkness.
I await your decision
