Why the day of love fell in the middle of winter you could hardly guess. The parks were frozen over, and all the plants and flowers were still asleep. Even with the sun the winter day's chill agitated you. You were cover from head to toe in the right winter fashion but still shook. There were other warmer place to be like Hawaii or Australia, but it was your turn to work this part of Japan. Pulling the scarf over your lips you grumbled how no one wanted to trade with you. "It's just one day! Just shoot all your arrows and you'll be done for the year!"

"Ugh, why does my quiver feel like it has more this year!" You pulled out a white blind fold but nearly lost it to the wind that blew by you.

"SO COLD!" You rubbed your arms then looked down on the city below your perch. White feathered wing pulled closer to you back while you waited for the sun to rise to start your job. What was your job? You were a cupid. Not the cupid but one of the many off-springs that came from Aphrodite's line. She had so many babies that she hid away that you had no idea how closely related your were to her or Eros, if you were at all. There were rumors that Eros just made a bunch of cupids himself so that he could ease his work load even thought he only worked one day a year!

"Lazy bum, he always gives himself the easy jobs." You said as you blew into your gloved hands. You peered down into your quiver that was filled with both gold and black tipped arrows. The golden tipped arrows made the victims fall in love and the black tipped ones broke love. Your job was to shoot two arrows at the same time while blindfolded. What happen afterwards was not your problem, it was just shoot and move on till you had no more arrows left. There wasn't an arrow for every person in the city below but enough for half. It was a system made to bring balance. How it did you couldn't guess, but that was not your job. "Hurry up and rise sun!" You called out. You stood on a cloud shaking for five minutes more when the first cracks of light lit the sky.

Grunting in approval you picked up your quiver and bow then tied the white blind fold over your eyes. White wings spread out and you leap into the air and flew into the city to shoot off as many arrows you could. "If I'm lucky I'll be home by noon."

February fourteen had all the girls in giggles and huddled in small groups. They whispered and plotted the best way to give their homemade chocolates to the boy they each individually admired. The boys acted aloof but would carefully glance in their desk, lockers and bags to see if a small bow of chocolates or a confession letter would suddenly appear. Some boys expected it, while others were surprise, and then there were those who didn't expect anything at all. Yugi was one of those boys. The only girl he knew and desired any affection from wasn't into making sweets. He also knew that she only saw him as a friend, so it was business as usual for him. His other two male friends, however, would constantly be checking their desk or lockers to find nothing. He smiled at their antics and gave a comforting word or two, but this day was just like any other in his mind. As long as he had friends he could do without the chocolate or romance.

Half past noon and you still had arrows to shot. On the bright side the sun did give off some heat and with the fast passed you were going you were nice and warm. "Two on my left and a group of five on my right." You blindly pick two out to shot at the pair then swooped around to shoot four into the group then flew off without seeing the chaos you caused. Your senses picked up more people gathered somewhere else and you flew to shot as many arrows in one area, but no matter how any you sent flying the amount in your quiver didn't seem to drop quickly enough. "Got to go faster!"

School was finally over, and the group of friends spilt off to their part time jobs or to home to do chores. Yugi was heading over to the arcade when he walked by an alley and heard a small noise. He looked around then heard it again and the noise made his heart stop. He was sure he knew what it was and walked into the alley not noticing he was being watch. Following the faint sound, he moved around the trash bins hoping not to the source of the noise in a tied bag. Moving some empty cardboard boxes, he found one that shook and yowled. He was about to open it when something fell from the sky and hit him on the head. Shook his head at the pain then rubbed his head and looked around to see what had hit him. It was when he turned that he saw that he was not alone in the alley with the box of eight week kittens.

"How could this happen!" You cried out.

You now stood on top of a building as your hand rummaged in you quiver. You only had one arrow left. In your frantic pace you dropped an arrow and didn't know what kind it was. Losing an arrow in the human world was a big no-no and would get you fired or worse kicked out into the human world were you would need to get a real year-round job to survive. You could sense people and sense if your arrows hit their mark but couldn't sense the arrows themselves. "Maybe, someone will find it and prick themselves? No, my luck is not that good." You stood on that building and thought for a bit then pulled the last arrow out for your quiver.

"Do I take off my blind fold and see what it is then pick someone and then go look for the missing arrow? Or should I shoot it at the first person I see and go home and hope for the best?" You ponder this for a bit when a noise was heard below you.

Perfect! A group of humans had gathered below you. This was your chance to get rid of this arrow and maybe go look for the other. You flew down and hovered above the group but was faced with a new problem. They were all male and from what you were picking up, straight. You gripped the arrow in your hand and thought of what to do. Should you remove the blindfold and see what color arrow you were holding or shoot it into the group and fly away home?
