"I love you too."

A tear ran down the side of your face. You wiped it away, feeling foolish for crying while confessing to Yugi. He got up from his seat and your head followed him, looking up wondering what he was going to do. He picked up the necklace from the box and placed it around your neck. Never having a boyfriend or admires in general you bashed at the action. "Thank you, Yugi. I'll treasure it."

He hand moved from the clasp to your chin and you looked back up at him and watched as he kneeled to you. "Y/n, I understand if I can never see you again, but know that it is you who will always have my heart."

You blinked and blinked again as more tears filled your eyes. You should have left. You should have never agreed to this date. The pain was too much. Was this what it was like to be struck with the black arrow. True you weren't falling out of love with him or him with you, but the idea of separation was too much to bare.

"Do you mean what you say, boy?"

You both turned and saw a beautiful woman sitting in Yugi's chair. Your heart went to your throat as this was the first time you had ever seen this goddess. There were times when you doubted her existence but here, she was, smiling at the two of you cockily.

"I sensed some disruption in my magic arrows and came myself to see what it was, I live for drama and goodness knows love can provide plenty of that. So, you claim to love this 'love nymph' of mine, but I wonder if that's really true."

She snapped her fingers and out the air popped a black arrow. You gasped but the goddess glared at you to stay quite. She turned to Yugi and ran a red finger nail down the side of his face. "Listen closely little one, I want you to prove your love for Y/N, by picking yourself with this black arrow. This arrow will remove the love spell place on you. If you can look at her without hate and with the same amount of affection you have for her now, I will give her over to you."

Yugi was about to speak but she pressed her finger to his mouth and continued, "If you can't then I will take Y/N away." She then looked over at you with a menacing stare saying, "And I will teach her a lesson I'm sure she will never forget. Love is both generous and cruel and meant for the human world. Not wasted for our amusement."

You wanted to break from her stare but feared doing so. You only broke it when you felt Yugi's hand covering yours. "Do you promise that Y/n will not pay any consequences when I win?"

"When you win?" She repeated with a laugh, "I think you mean if, but no matter, if you do win, she will be kicked out of Olympus and made a normal human girl."

"But that her home!"

"Yugi," you said looking at him. He turned to you and you smiled at him saying, "That will be fine. If I'm human, I can stay with you and live a normal life here." You then looked at Aporphine and said carefully to her, "I wish for a black arrow too."

"Ooh," Her eyes widen with delight and snapped her fingers, "if you lose, I will leave you here for one year, got it?"

You nodded and took an arrow from her. Yugi took his too and you both stood up and faced each other. Not a soul in the café knew what was happening and went on with their dates as the goddess of love watch you both close your eyes and prick a finger. You both could feel something changing and reshaping in you. "Come on, open your eyes and gaze into each other." Cooed the goddess.

Slowly you both opened your eyes and looked into each other just like you did back in the alley. "Well? Do you feel anything for each other? You mentioned your hearts being linked, do you still feel that now?" She asked glancing at Yugi. Her eye then turned to you and asked, "Can you still say you love him? Are really going to treasure that cheap jewelry he gave you."

You didn't know what it was, her condescending voice, her comment on the necklace you wore or the fact that you remember wearing it and what Yugi had said about it, but your hand went to it wrapped around it. Aphrodite watched, hoping that you were going to break it off, but you didn't.

"Yugi," You said, "I love you." You watched to see if he would respond to you, but his face reminded stony. You felt your heart sank and you grip around the linked hearts tighten.

"Looks like you lost, too bad." The goddess stood to leave but then stopped when she saw the boy moving towards you. Not exactly being the same height Yugi reached up to your face and brought it down to his. Your eyes closed as you kissed him back. This kiss felt real, the emotion felt real, ground and true. Not over blown or forced. Yugi placed away and smiled at you saying, "I love you too."

You wanted to kiss him again but you both turned around to the clapping goddess. "Well, done. I really didn't think I would lose but I did." She moved around the table and threw her arms around you and hugged you close.

"I know I was cruel, but I can't have my children misusing the arrows even by mistake." She pulled back and cupped your face saying, "Know that this is real my child and that no magic will hold it together. This connection will be up to you and you." She finished stepping aside to push you towards Yugi. "I will see that you have a home here the human world and the things you need, since I believe he is still too young to have you as his wife." Yugi blushed and nodded and thank her for not throwing you at in the cold. He would have help you, but it would have been hard to explain to his grandpa why you needed to live with them.

The goddess of love hugged you both again and disappeared with a wink. Sighing you both walked out of the café and headed back to Yugi'shouse were you stayed till a chauffeur came to take you to your new home. From that day on you lived as a normal girl and attend the school Yugi went to. You got to know his friends and made some of your own.

Each of the kitten found a new home, expect Scamp who lived with Yugi. The relationship the two of you cultivated grew and reshape it self as you both aged. The necklace you wore at all times had faded from its golden color to that of metallic metal. After three years of marriage, Yugi tried to replace it, feeling ashamed that he couldn't give you something better when you two first started dating, but the meaning of it meant too much to you. Love, shiny and new, is a fickle thing if not cared for, but if it's grounded in something more it will last and go beyond depths you never thought possible.
