You heard the sound of music float from the park and grew curious at the sound. "Why don't we head to the park? It sounds like a festival is happening there."
Yami glance over at the entrance and saw people moving in and out carrying food and hot drinks. "I think you're right. Alright, we'll go to the park." He offered his arm to you which you took and carefully crossed the street. You didn't look back once at the café and hope that you could enjoy the rest of the evening without any trouble.
The winter air brushed against your cheek and you slowly regretted not choosing the arcade since you were not a fan of the cold, but the soft lights of a tiny festival in the middle of the park made you forget your discomfort. You had never been to a human festival, so its size did not matter to you. A booth nearby was giving away hot chocolate to couples. An older woman walked up to you and Yami with a tray of small white cups with stream gently rising from them.
The warm cup help with your hands and the drink was perfectly sweet. A live band played to add to the atmosphere of lights, color and chatter. Yami remember what Yugi's grandpa had said and asked if you would like to sit down on a bench near a bridge. There the two of you talk and laughed as the air cool the drinks in your hands. It was odd to see how much of the same you two were. Both magical beings with no real seeable future. No real past. You both were just going through this world following a path the just went forward. This night was a nice change from all that. That time you spent sitting there in the dead of winter you felt like a normal girl, a normal girl with a normal boyfriend. Yami felt the same. He had forgotten that he was not really alive and that the life he had was not his. He was grateful that Yugi was willing to share with him and that he gave him the opportunity to spend this evening wit you. The feelings he had for you was the only time he could claim as his own.
As you drank down the last of the cool down chocolate Yami cleared his throat to gain your attention. "Y/n, I got this for you while you were in the pet store. I hope you like it." He pulled out a small box and handed it to you.
"Yami, thank you. It's beautiful." You said looking down at the golden heart shape locket. The night suddenly felt not so cold and stood still in time though the hour was growing late. Yami didn't know how much longer you would be with him or if he would ever get another chance to be alone with you, so he sweetly called your name to look at him.
He knew that his cheeks were burning with red but tired to act calm as he spoke softly to you, "Y/n, I want to thank you for spending your evening with me."
"Oh, there's no need to thank me," you said blushing as you held the box to your chest, "I had a lot of fun. I've never been on a date before to be honest, so this was nice."
Yami smiled then slid an arm around your shoulders. You were pulled to his side and you let your head fall on his shoulder. Light snow feathered down, and the night suddenly grew quite even with the festival happening in the background. "Y/N, I wish there was more I could offer you then just that necklace, because of what I am there is a limit to what I can do for you." He's other hand came down to your face and turn it upwards to face him. "I love you Y/N. I love you with everything I am. I promise to love only you till I am gone."
