I furiously slam the front door to my house aftter Seth drops me off home after dinner. I'm mad at Jay for saying he's going to come, and then he doesn't. He doesn't even send a text. I'm mad at my parents for not coming to my important night, and for not giving me for once some attention. But, at least they had the "decency" to ditch my night by text."Elle, honey how was it?" my mother asks coming down the stairs, still in her work clothes. Looks like they both just got home shortly before I did.
"Now, you wouldn't know would you," I hiss, dropping my bag on the floor.
"Ella, watch how you talk to us," my father says sternly from the living room couch.
I whip my head to him, "No! It's not fair. You should've been there"
"You're not five years old anymore," my mother scoffs from behind. "You're basically a grown up, you don't need your parents at a recital," she laughs like it was the most absurd thing in the world.
That's the thing I hated about them. They always made me seem like the crazy needy one, who needed to grow up. They always turned it on me.
"You didn't even come to any when I was five," I snap. "Madame Demonge was the only one there"
"Oh, that's beside the point," my mother replies, rolling her eyes.
I laugh furiously while going up the stairs.
"Did you get the final audition?" My dad shouts from below."Yes I did," I snap.
My mother throws her hands in the air. "Well that's great. There's no need for the dramatics, Elle"
They made my blood boil. I decide not to reply to that and stomp up the stairs, shutting the door behind me.
They wouldn't try to come in anyways..
———————The next day I take a seat in biology. The tables aren't positioned for groups of 4 anymore but they are back to the regular partner tables. Vi and Toby sit together behind me while I sit in front, waiting for Seth to fill the empty seat in front of me.
The bell suddenly rings, and I see Jay causally coming in sliding into the seat next to me.
"That's Seth's seat," I snap, obviously still feeling annoyed that he ditched us last night at dinner.
He looks up, surprisingly at me with darkened eyes. "He's not coming to first period. He's at the dentists"
My eyes flash down to the table, and I pull out my phone where Seth has already left me a message that he won't be coming to biology.
"Sorry bro O took your seat," we hear Toby say from behind with a sheepish look on his face. I look at Violet who's blushing and obviously happy that he's sitting next to her.
"No problem man," Jays says while turning back to me. "What's up with you?" he playfully smirks.
I cross my arms, "Let me remind you that you wanted to meet us at Cesar's last night"
