Phillis was first to notice the chocolate box and flower arrangement in front of our door. I was at first doubting that was our room because the flowers weren't roses. But it was our door and my gift from my secret admirer. There was a note inserted in the beautiful red bow that was tied on the box. But whiles my attention was immediately stolen by the beautiful flowers in front of me, Phillis quickly opened the note on the box and read it out loud.

Hi Phillis. I saw that you were injured. Please get well soon.

"Aww the chocolate is mine. He got it for me. He is so sweet." Phillis said.

I quickly took the card from her and saw that he had indeed sent the chocolate to Phillis, and not knowing how I felt about him, to do such a sweet thing for my friend, was shocking.

"Wow!" I couldn't help it.

"I know." Said Phillis. "I don't know him yet but you are definitely going out with him."

A group of people suddenly exited the room adjacent ours and so we hurried inside. And then again, we were met with more surprise. There were folded papers on the floor, just at the entrance. I was super thrilled that he didn't stop bringing me little notes, even if I wasn't here. It's not like he knew I wasn't here, but I was so happy to have come to see all that. It was so amazing. We gathered all the notes and laid them on the bed. We couldn't arrange them according to when they had each arrived, but they were mostly small compliments about my appearance and the way I flawlessly answered questions in class. Some of them were concerns. It seems he was worried that I didn't want to see him or speak to him. I grew more confused but when I realized that one of the notes was actually an envelope, I forgot the rest and just opened that one.

"This one is a letter." I said.

"Well open it. Don't just stand there." Phillis said, and threw herself on her bed. "I will lay here and enjoy my chocolate. For the record, you're not getting any."

I was too focused on the letter to pay attention to Phillis anymore. I read the contents silently to myself and sadly slummed into my bed as I got to the end.

"What is it? Liv?"

"He wanted to see me. For real this time. He said he was going to wait till the restaurant closed if that's what it took to convince me that he wasn't running this time."

"That explains a lot of these notes." Said Phillis.

I turned the letter and found a phone number written at the back just as he said in the letter. "He wanted me to call him when I got there. But I never showed."

"I'm so sorry Liv. But it wasn't your fault. You didn't see this on time. It's my fault. You were with me the entire time and missed out on seeing him again."

Phillis sat beside me and pulled me into her embrace. "Why don't you call him?" she said.

"That's insane."

"It's really not. He is expecting your call. You can explain everything to him. He'll surely believe you. He's too crazy not to."

"And if he doesn't? What is he's too embarrassed now to even listen to me?"

"Then it's his loss."

"I'm not so sure about that."

Phillis looked at me, completely surprised at my words. "Liv, do you like him already?"

"Why do you look so surprised? He's a sweetheart."

"Well yes but, you haven't even met him. That's insane."

I knew Phillis had a point. I couldn't like him just yet when I hadn't even met him. But I couldn't help myself. He was so sweet and kind, with what he did for Phillis. And even before then. I wasn't an idiot. I just couldn't help myself.

But before I could say anything else, a folded paper slipped under the door. The last note I would ever receive.
