Ever since my freshman year of high school I knew what I wanted to be. I didn't want to be a doctor, or a lawyer, or a teacher. No, what I wanted to do was serve. I wanted to become a navy seal, the most badass you could be. I knew to be a navy seal would be hard and I also new that only six percent of the applicants meet the requirements.
I applied online on navy.com and was waiting to be processed and to receive my results. It had been a week sense my application had been submitted. A week, eleven hours, three minutes, and twenty seconds, but who was counting.
Every day I checked the mail and every hour I checked my email. Besides that there wasn't much I could do besides wait.
Both my parents were in the military, which in the long run is what motivated me to be a navy seal. I always admired their hard work and new that I wanted to be as tough as them.
On Friday, March third, I got a letter. It didn't look large and I didn't think anything of it until I read Navy Seals on the front. I ran inside screaming with excitement. My parents were both home and ran out from the bedroom to see what all the fuss was about.
I waved the letter in the air while jumping. I still hadn't opened it. We all sat on the couch the envelope in front of us. The anticipation was to much. I finally reached for it and slowly opened it trying not the rip the envelope too much. I slowly pulled out the piece of paper. I unfolded it.
'Tara Jenkins you have been selected to be one of the few applicants for this spring...'
I didn't need to read the rest. I jumped up and down as did my parents. I was so happy I started crying. This was the happiest day of my life.
