It was the weekend and the graduates decided too gives us a break. The guys were excited and frankly so was I, I just didn't know what to do with all this free time.

The guys wanted to go out, but unfortunately I wasn't twenty-one yet. Plus, I wasn't a partier in general. I told the guys to go on without me while I did some extra work in the weight room.

I connected my phone to the aux cord and played my pump up music, which consisted of mostly of Eminem.

I decided I would be doing a full body workout. Arms, legs, back. For legs I did front squat as well as back squat, leg press, lunges and a few other workouts. Arms consisted of bench press, curls, tricep dips, and others. As I was starting my workouts foe back I hear someone.

"You know there's working out, and then working it out." I hear Beyer say.

I turn around. He has his arms crossed leaning against the door frame.

I don't comment going to my phone and pausing the music.

"Wanna talk?" He asks walking into the weight room.

"Not really." I state more harshly than intended too. "I'm sorry, I just realized I shouldn't have come to talk to you."

"You mean you didn't want me to see how vulnerable you are?"

I don't comment. It's like he took the words right out of my mouth.

"Look, you know how many guys have come to talk to me. A lot. Multiple times. They're not weak, they're far from it."

I just listen.

"I get it if you don't want to talk to me, but talk to someone because here those distractions will be deadly."

He turns to walk out, but I stop him.

"Wait."

He turns towards me waiting.

I sit on one of the workout machines, "I told you I've worked my whole life for this. It's been great, but I still can't get the thought of Kyle out of my head."

I watch as his fist clenches his thigh, I ignore it.

"I almost died. And when we were in the water and I almost drowned, it just brought those memories back."

We sit there, in a comfortable silence.

"What are you doing here anyway?" I ask.

"The guys told me you weren't going out, so I came to check on you."

"Thanks."

I'm about to walk out the door before pausing at the door.

"Do you maybe wanna go get something to eat? Preferably not this garbage cafeteria food." I ask.

He laughs at my description of the food, "Sure."

"Okay, I'm going to shower, then I'll come find you."

I walk out with a smile on my face.

--

Once showered and dressed I meet Beyer at the courtyard.

"So, what's good to eat around here?" I ask as we walk.

"They have a lot. Thai, Mexican, Italian, you name it. What sounds good to you?"

"I could go for some Italian."

"Then follow me."

We arrive at a place called Napoli's. A little hole in the wall Italian place, but Beyer swears that it's good. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

They seat us at a booth in the corner of the restaurant.

"Why'd you join the navy seals?" I ask Beyer.

"I joined because I wanted to get away from my family. I was an only child with an alcoholic mother and a drug addicted father. This gave me the opportunity to leave."

"You could've gone to any other branch though. So again, why the navy seals?"

"I think I just wanted to prove to my parents that I could do it. They always said I would be nothing so I wanted to show them I wasn't just nothing. But in the end they still didn't see what I accomplished so it doesn't really matter."

I'm about to say something when our waiter comes. It's a young man about a year older than me with blonde hair.

"What can I get you?" He asks looking more at me than at Beyer.

"I would like the spaghetti and meatballs, the dinner portion, with garlic bread."

The waiter turns towards Beyer, "And you?" He asks rudely.

"The same, but make it two."

The waiter writes it down leaving.

"He was lovely." I say sarcastically.

Beyer mumbles something under his breath, but I don't hear what exactly he says.

"Why are you so dead set on the navy seals?" Asks Beyer.

"Both my parents were in the military. So I just wanted to follow in their foot steps, make a difference. If I'm going into the military I might as well be the most badass I can be."

"That's it?"

"Yeah," I laugh, "Why?"

He shakes his head and takes a drink, "Most people come in with backstories like mine or that they just want to beat the shit out of people, something like that. I don't know."

I shake his response off because I don't know how to respond.

The awkward silence is broken up by our waiter bringing out the food. The hot food smells delicious and makes my stomach grumble.

I eat my food in record time.

"Damn." Says Beyer on his second plate.

"What? I'm a growing girl leave me alone." I say as I bite into my garlic bread.

"Just never seen a girl inhale her food like that. One second it was there and then poof gone."

I laugh almost choking on my food.

Once Beyer was done eating we ask for the check. A small fight almost breaks out between us about who's going to pay, but in the end Beyer wins. Once the receipt is not the table I pick it up before Beyer can. On the paper it has a phone number that says 'call me.'

"What's so funny?" Asks Beyer ripping the paper from my hand.

"Hey!"

"I have to pay anyway." He states.

"His phone number?"

"Yeah."

He puts cash down on the table and gets up. I follow him out of the restaurant. Guess he doesn't want his change.

It's a pretty silent walk home. It's dark outside and the breeze from the ocean only makes it colder. It has no affect on us having been through the rigorous amount of training.

Once we reach my room he pauses.

"What?" I ask.

He's silent.

"Okay, well goodnight." I'm about to open the door to my room when he pulls me towards him.

We're close. Close enough I can feel his warm breath on my lips. He stares at me. I stare back challenging him.

"Ever since the first day you got here you've impressed me more and more." He says slowly.

I nod. No words being able to come out due to our proximity.

He leans in and our lips touch. I grab the back of his neck pulling him closer. He grabs my hips pulling me closer. Our lips move together. Hungry, but not for food. I try to dominate the kissing, but he overcomes it. He forces his tongue into my mouth and I moan. He pushes me hard against the door.

I'm about to open the door when he pulls away suddenly and walks off. Then like that he's gone.
