Ed was sat on his own at lunch today and he looked absolutely miserable. Jimmy was no where to be seen. Pretending not to notice, I sat down in front of him and grinned, just staring into those big old eyes of his. He just stared back grimly. he really was being quite the grump, and I'm talking more than usual.

"What is it now, John?" he asked half moody, half serious. It was quite funny really. I hadn't ever seen Ed like this before. So morose and hateful. It was quite funny really.

"ooh, someone isn't a very happy bunny today are they? what's the matter? cat got your tongue? or do you just miss Jimbo?" I teased gleefully curious. he just glared at me and i knew i was right. He missed Jimbo. Perhaps a little bit more than you would normally expect. Making a mental note to remember this for a later date as it might become useful, i got down to business.

"So, eddy, i have an idea, i know just how to bring down arkham!" i exclaimed expecting him to cheer up, but he simply grunted.

"What a surprise, you've changed your plan again! how do you propose we do it this time? are we going back to the poison gas theory? or the pay the guards idea?" hissed Ed. I was very annoyed that he was talking about my plans as if they were ridiculous. Now, as illogical as they were, they were not ridiculous. after all the guards here are completely crooked if we paid them we could get them to do pretty much anything. The only problem is that we don't have any money.

"Actually, my four-eyed friend, I have a better plan, you see, I was playing chess with the shrink when i had an idea, as it happens, he was winning at the start but just as soon as i took the queen, he began to lose, and he lost bad," i giggled for a moment and at the sight of Ed's rather bemused face, i carried on with my explanation "I think we can attribute this to our little plan if we can destroy the most fundamental parts of Arkham's whole system, breaking out is gonna be a piece of cake!".

For the very first time, in all the time I've known him, he actually looked impressed. It's actually quite a nice surprise. Most certainly unexpected. I smiled gleefully at him, and he did the same.

Ed's eyes lit up like fuel burning on a mountain of cash with someone tied to a chair on top of it. That actually sounds fun, I really should try it some time.

"I know exactly who we need, but, she wont be an easy catch and even if we do happen to pull this off we're gonna be in a heap of trouble with the black mask," he replied rather nonchalantly "but i don't mind the risk if it gets us out of here, so, her name is Dr Alyce Sinner, and she is very, very evil, she is also my psychiatrist so getting to her should be easy enough,"

Once again, I grinned. He really was full of surprises. Then the bell to send us back to our cells sounded and we went.
