This was supposed to be out on Valentine's day. But I suck ass and forgot. So here it is, two days later.
Enjoy!
After dinner, Caleb stepped away to get himself cleaned up.
He returned to the living room to find Minho sitting on the sofa scrolling through the different shows and movies Netflix had to offer.
He had been gone for just about 30 minutes and the guy still hadn't chosen a movie. He was looking for something before he left.
Caleb joined Minho on the sofa, getting a little surprised when the older pulled him into his lap to sit. He placed a chaste kiss on the nape of his neck before resuming his video search.
And at that moment, it dawned on him - today was Valentines day. Despite the fact that multiple customers had said 'Happy Valentines day!' to him, it still didn't register.
Not until he was sitting in the candle/tv-lit apartment that he shared with Minho on Minho's lap.
Minho was trying to get into his pants. And although usually he wouldn't mind, just that thought alone bummed him out.
He thought that the older was genuinely doing stuff because he liked him.
But he should've known.
No one could like someone like him. It was impossible.
Damn right.
The one moment Caleb tried his hardest and succeeded in ignoring the voices in his head, he realised that they were telling the truth.
Maybe they were more perceptive than he was.
"Caleb, babe, are you okay?"
The pet name sounded so beautiful floating off of Minho's beautiful lips. He wanted to hear it again. Even if he knew that it was just the older's attempt of swooning him.
"Huh?"
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?"
"It's just, I asked you about your work day. You didn't answer. Thought you had a bad day or something."
"Oh ..."
Minho didn't know what was running through Caleb's mind. He hoped that the younger didn't think that he was just trying to get in his pants.
'Cause it wasn't like that.
He liked Caleb. He did.
He even went as far as searching on Google and talking to people trying to figure out how to talk to his crush.
He actually hadn't planned on doing anything today. But then, after he dropped Caleb off at work, he realised that it was Valentines day.
He rushed home, whipped out his dusty, trusty cookbook and got to work.
He knew that it'd be late when Caleb got off. So a restaurant was out of the question.
He also knew that even if he could've taken them to a restaurant, Caleb had dealt with enough people today. Dealing with more people - even if it'd be to just place an order and then receive his food - would be a little annoying
Besides, home cooked food was the best.
Anyways, he didn't want Caleb to think that he was taking advantage him.
No. He was taking advantage of the date.
"My work day was good. Pretty slow all day. And then at like ... 6 we started picking up. Couples everywhere." Caleb made a fake gagging sound, leaning back onto Minho, resting his back on the older's chest.
"Some people were swallowing each other's faces in front of my register. Very disgusting. I hate dealing with couples."
Minho felt his heart pang a bit.
He didn't know much about Caleb's past relationships. But they must not have ended good if he felt that way about people. Either that or he had a hard time growing up.
Or maybe it could be both.
"Oh..."
-
Halfway through the movie (Minho had chosen some RomCom), Minho excused himself to go to the bathroom.
Or ... that's what he said. But really, after shutting the bathroom door, he stealthily opened it back up and snuck into his room to retrieve the flowers and bag of M&Ms he had gotten for the younger on his way home from dropping him off at work.
He retrieved said items and crept back into the bathroom, flushing the empty toilet and washing his hands before exiting the bathroom and heading back out into the living room.
The tips of his ears were burning. And his feet and hands felt heavy. But he pushed on. Because if he didn't do this now, then he'd probably never do it.
At least not until it was too late.
The thought of Caleb being with someone else made Minho's heart ache.
He wanted to wake up to that beautiful smile every day. Hear his accented voice. Play with his curls and stare at his ass.
He didn't want anyone else to have that opportunity.
He wanted to take care of Caleb when he was sick. And even when he wasn't sick, he still wanted to be able to take care of Caleb.
Is this what love feels like?
"Caleb?" Minho entered the living area, standing behind the sofa.
"Yes?" The younger inquired, looking over his shoulder at the older.
He nearly froze upon seeing his attractive roommate standing there with flowers, candy, and a look in his eyes.
Caleb couldn't quite decipher the look. But it made him feel a little warm inside.
"Will you be my boyfriend?"
