"We meet again"

We arrived back home in Dallas and today is New Year's Eve. We will be announcing my pregnancy to the team at the NYE team party. They will suspect somethings up because I won't take a sip of alcohol while I'm there so this would be a good place to tell them.
      I woke up early today because I was feeling sick so I had to go make myself some herbal tea which makes me feel actually much better. Tyler wasn't too far behind me waking up, only about 20 minutes I heard him come into the living room.
"Are you okay? I felt you not in bed" he asks. 
I nod my head yes, "hmmh. Im good now. Just had to get my tea I started not to feel well"
"El- we don't have to go to the party later if you don't want to and aren't feeling well. We can stay home and-"
"Tyler. I'm fine. I just told you I felt better after I got my tea. We're going. No backing out.  Where even is it anyway?" I tell then asked him where since it was my first time this year.
"Usually at this restaurant downtown. They cater us food and unlimited wine, champagne and beer.  Oh wait..." he realizes I can't drink until a few more months.  "Well for you, maybe some non alcoholic wine.. I hope.  But there's no kids coach doesn't even come. Just the team and wives/ girlfriends. It's fun don't worry. And this is the big day we tell them that we're having a mini segs!"

     Up until we had to leave for the party, I was in sweats and one of Tyler's shirts for the day running some errands like to get some food to hold us over til the party, I went to the store, took a few packages to the post office, got my nails done and that's about it.

I get a shower, straighten my hair, do my makeup and then find something nice to wear for New Years.  I find a tight black dress that shows off a little of my belly So I get a long coat that is beige to wear over the dress to hide it and since it's also chilly outside in this December weather. I grab some red heels to finish it off.
I walk out of the bathroom to find Tyler struggling to find something to wear also. I look over at him and make a joke, "hey sweetie, do you need mommy to pick out your outfit?" I ask laughing. He looks at me, rolls his eyes and moves out of the way.
I pick him out a dark pair of jeans, a plain white long sleeve shirt with black dress loafers.

It was around 6 now when Jamie has texted to meet him at the car in 10 minutes.
Surprisingly, we were both ready on time early. I grab a water and my black crossbody purse and we head out to find Jamie's car.

     "There's my 3 amigos" he says referring to the baby.
"Remember. Don't say anything when we get there. When the ball drops, I'm making an announcement to everyone okay?  Don't ruin the surprise boys." I say strictly so they don't spoil anything.

When we pull up to the restaurant, there's a full service. Valet and all. Jamie hands the man his keys and we all head inside. Even though we were early, we weren't the first ones there so we got greeted by many of their teammates. Soon as I walked in, the waitress handed me champagne I looked at Tyler and told him to drink some so I wouldn't have to say I don't want any and people look at me crazy because I never turn down alcohol. Especially on NYE.
All night, the guys were playing cards and other games, girls gossiping and drinking, eating, mingling, watching New Years rocking eve which is a tradition and just hanging out having a fun night. Tyler or Jamie or even myself had not spoiled the surprise yet and I hope it stays that way for another hour when the clock is going to hit 12.

11 pm.

11:58 everyone gathered around the huge flat screen tv with their loved ones and waited another minute for the countdown.
This is my first real New Year's Eve kiss. My first with Tyler and I'm pregnant along with it.

10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1... Happy new year!! Everyone cheers loudly setting off their whistles then we meet lips for a New Years kiss.
I look up at Tyler smiling with joy. "Happy New Years Ellie. I love you. It's time" "Happy New Years" I smile.

I blow my whistle to get everyone's attention to tell them the big news.
"I have the first toast of this new year. I just want to start off by saying that I am so happy I got to be apart of this team... for only a few months but it was well worth it. I got to meet so many of you awesome people who are like family to me. Lifelong friends. I love you all. I have some news to tell you guys.  There will be a new addition to this Stars family soon because Tyler and I are having a baby!" I finally get it out to tell them. The room ruptured with 'congratulations, awes, I can't believe it's, so happy for you'  
"Also, tyler and I have something else to say" I say looking over at Tyler who has his arm around me to speak.
"Okay, well, so... Jamie- I want to make this short and sweet so here it goes.  When I first came to Dallas, you were the first guy who basically took me in and straightened me up for the game and we became best friends- brothers to be exact. When Ellie came to Dallas for this job, you were the first one there to help her, show her around, and thank god for you or else we wouldn't have met again. You're like a brother to her too. We love you so much buddy and we want you to know how much.  No matter what team, where you go, where you move, what country you're in, we'll be buddies for life whether you like it or not.  Man, Ellie and I didn't spend a lot of time thinking about this because we knew off the bat, we want you to be our child's godfather." Tyler stops talking and Jamie's eyes just get wide and the team just smiles and 'awes'.
I speak up, "Jamie, I know it's a huge deal and I want you to have time to think about it. We love you Benny. If anything ever happens to us, we want you to take care of our child. There's no other person I would want to care for our kid than you."
He comes over to me and gives Tyler a hug then me.  He gives me a hug then puts one arm around my shoulder and the other on my belly and looks at me.
"I cannot thank you both enough for even thinking for me to be a candidate for this.  Segs, Ellie, there is absolute no doubt. No doubt I wouldn't say yes.  I'd love to be this little girl or guys godfather. I cannot wait until the baby's here. I love you both so much. Thank you. This really means a lot. Words can't describe it." Jamie says making his speech. 
"Really?  Thank you. We love you and so does this little one already " I tell him.
Tyler and him bro hugs once again.

We left the party to head home about 1am. I was so happy about tonight.
There were many other choices for being godparents but no one like Jamie. He's such a great guy who cares about everyone else before himself. I see how he is with the other guys kids or even the fans. My brother was one. He was a good choice for me because well, Im his children's godmom and two, he has kids, and three, he's my brother. But I thought Tyler wouldn't mind but he didn't know him well even though that would change over time. Other candidates were his sisters, his mom, my mom, my friend from college, some guys on the team but still, no one stuck out besides Jamie. We both had him on our mind for quite sometime for this position and we are very happy and blessed he took the offer.

     Before I went to bed, I thought it was time to announce it to the world but I wanted to wait until we could find out the gender in a few weeks at the end of the month.
