A Few Days Later
Elara's Ship, Earth

Elara's POV

"Please?! It'll only be for a few hours!" Iris begs.

"You know how bad I am with kids," I remind her. "Trust me; you're asking the wrong person to do this job."

"C'mon, El!" She whines. "Lyra's counting on me to find a sitter for her little brother. If you do this, I promise you I'll owe you one."

"You owe me three!"

"Fair enough."

"You can make it up to me by helping me babysit Tommy," I declare.

"Please, no!" She groans. "I have a girls' night out with her and Miranda. Why don't you ask that cute Akiridion boy to help you?"

"Tarron?! Nope, not a chance!" I answer firmly. "I'll be fine doing this on my own. I don't need his help."

"Are you sure? You might get to know him a little more," Iris smirks at me teasingly.

"He can barely take care of his ship and you're advising me to entrust him with a living thing?!"

"Stop overreacting, El," she rolls her eyes. "It's not like he'll drop a seven year-old kid down a drain."

"Either way, I doubt he knows anything about babysitting."

"Well neither do you. It'll be a new experience for you both! Anyways, I've got to go. The choice is yours." Iris finishes morphing into her human appearance and leaves the ship.

"Wait! But what will we do with the kid?" I follow her out. "It's not like we can just show him around The Daxxon."

"Which is why I upgraded your UV cortex chip to reconfigure into modern architecture," she answers calmly.

Iris takes the cortex chip from me and places it onto the ground.

"Better step back," she warns me, and we make room just as the chip grows, building layers of iron slabs one over the other as it expands to the size of a house until a camouflage matrix coats the metal shell of the small building.

I raise an eyebrow. "A nursery. Are you Serious?"

"It's better than exposing the ship to a loose-lipped boy, but I guess it's not great either." Iris checks her phone and her eyes whir in alarm.

"Crap! I'm supposed to meet them in 10 minutes," she starts heading towards town before looking back at me.

"Ok, El. You have about another hour to crash before Tommy gets here. Remember to feed him every two hours and never take your eyes off of him. I'll be back at 6:00PM."

"Aye-aye, Captain," I salute her playfully.

The Next Day
The Mothership, Earth

Krel's POV

"You will not believe what I've been through yesterday!" El huffs as she pushes in a new component for Mother. "I had to babysit a little brat!"

"Lively!" Aja squeals. "I love babies!"

"Wait wait wait, you sat on a baby?!" I wail.

"I wish," she answers bitterly. "But no. Babysitting's when someone pays you to take care of a kid."

"Ohhhhhh," Aja and I say at the same time. That makes much more sense.

"Well how did it go?"

"Horribly!!" El moans. "The little brat locked me out of the nursery and trashed the whole building! It took me forever to catch him! I had to tie him up to bring peace."
