Lily's POV

God! What was that guy's deal? His ice cold stare sent shivers down my spine.

Luckily, Emma came and rescued me from his scrutinizing gaze. I had calculus rarely in the morning. The thought made me groan in annoyance. Who prepared the goddamn schedule. God help my poor soul. I really hated math. I sucked at it. There's no sugarcoating it. Despite Emma's help and occasional tutoring sessions I really couldn't understand half of the things the professor uttered. I know what you all are probably thinking, "gah! She's a Barbie doll. All glam but an airhead." Well, sorry to disappoint you, I actually ace at every other subject I do. Including physics. Top of the class. And followed by Emms of course. But it's just this math that gets on my nerves. It's too bad that I really need the subject to do architecture, which is my dream, my passion, and everything. My mother was an architect too, which is one of the main reasons why I started being interested in it. I feel like I'll be more closer to her, knowing how she felt about designs and old buildings and have at least a little bit of knowledge and experience she had. I could tell I was passionate about it too. I wasn't just doing it because of mum. I found a sense of calm every time I drew a building's design or visited famous monuments. It never seizes to amaze me.

I bestirred as the professor called out my name loudly probably for the second or third time.

"Yes?" I inquired with my usual confident tone.

"Your test sheet." He extended the corrected answer sheet to my face. I took it from his grasp as kindly as I could without a single hint of worry but deep down inside my gut wrenched in anxiety. I opened my paper to see my results and I got a F! A frickin F after all that studying! I stuffed the paper in my bag without giving a single hint to anyone about my grade. Some of my friends, minus Emma, totally didn't give a damn about their grade but I wasn't one of them. Even though my dad could afford to get me into any college I wanted to go to, I always wanted to get good grades to achieve my goals and make my dad proud without making him worry about me too much. Also, being only popular in high school isn't going to get you into the college of your dreams, your grades do, hence, my concern towards my math grade slipping. Slipping? It already fell into the well. My day couldn't get worse. I already lost the necklace my mother gave me when I was four years old, right before she passed away. It was a white gold necklace with a blue sapphire calla-lily pendant. I must've lost it yesterday when we were at the stupid bar. I mentally noted to drop by at that place and scan the area to see if it's still there by any chance.

Half an hour later

Half an hour later

The bell finally rang after what felt like eternity. I looked back at Emma and mouthed that I'll meet her in the canteen later because I had to rush out of this classroom as fast as I could before he caught me. No, no, no, the people were crowded at the door pushing each other out. God! Have they got no sense? Why can't they just quickly leave one by one?

"Ms. Edwards." He called out my name and I paused. He waited until everyone left including Emma. I shut my eyes in frustration and turned around to him with the fakest smile known to mankind. The balding man before me smiled.

"Yes, Mr. Olsen?" I inquired.

He completely ignored my question and spoke, "Mr. James? Could you stay back, please?"
I wasn't alone with him? I turned around to only find myself looking at him again. Aaron James. The notorious bad boy of Grayville High. This guy could make every other guy, no matter what their size was, pee in their pants in fright, if he wants to.

His brown eyes shone brightly as the sunlight brightened the room and filled as the sunlight was hidden by a cloud. I couldn't help but think how beautiful his eyes were.

I couldn't help myself, I smirked at him and said, "You flunked too huh?"He frowned at me and just kept his eyes on Mr

I couldn't help myself, I smirked at him and said, "You flunked too huh?"
He frowned at me and just kept his eyes on Mr. Olsen. Geez! Someone's got their panties in a twist. Well he is the bad boy of our school and town so I can't really expect him to be all rainbows and unicorns. *eyeroll*
"As you both are aware, our school has started this peer to peer teaching program." We both nodded. I was starting to worry. I kept repeatedly tapping my toe on the floor in anxiety of where I thought this was heading.

"Mr. Aaron James, I would like you to tutor Ms. Lily Edwards here to improve her grades in Math until the end of the school year." I opened my mouth to argue.

"Emma could-"

Mr. Olsen cut me off, "It'll be the partner I assign and no one else. I'll make sure of it."

He spoke for the first time throughout this whole ordeal, "How? I don't give a damn about her grades." Ouch but true, why would he?

"Because, Mr. James if I don't see an improvement in Ms Edwards' grade, I'll reduce your grades." If I were Mr. Olsen I would be afraid as Aaron's entire demeanor changed and he looked hostile but that Mr. Olsen definitely got balls to look into Aaron's eye while blackmailing him. Aaron looked skywards and gave up. Looks like he was powerless too against a teacher. None of us could escape this. I couldn't go to Emma as Aaron's grade relied on mine and so far studying with Em didn't improve my grade in math. No offense to her but really. And I would get into trouble if Aaron went and told Mr. Olsen that I didn't co- operate. We both accepted our fate designed not my god but the balding man before us.

"You both can leave now." He dismissed us. Looks like our last year at school was going to be eventful. Lost my lucky/ favorite necklace and paired up with Mr. Moody right here. God save us all.
