Robyn was sitting in maths, glaring at the computer on the desk in front of her.
"Goddammit! They could make the angle you're supposed to be measuring clearer!" Tears were brimming in her eyes, some already falling and her mind had already spilt upon her lips, a string of muffled curses.
"here we go," she mumbled, ready for inner turmoil as she began beating herself up over the questions she'd gotten wrong, frustration, pent up sadness and anger piling into one emotional breakdown.Robyn was frantically wiping her cold blue eyes, face already pink and blotchy.
"Robyn? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine,"
"Do you want to stand outside for a while?" Robyn nodded, standing up and speedily walking out the door. Mr Smith followed her, wanting to ensure she would be alright.Robyn fell to the floor, hiding her face in her blazer as best she could in an attempt to either muffle her sobs or stop people from having look at her face. She knew she wasn't a pretty crier. Mr Smith led her to his office for a while, and made her sit on a chair.
"thanks" she breathed, trying to calm herself.
"Do you mind me asking what happened?"
"I just - I'm a bad student, I know, and I feel so bad when I get a question wrong because it feels like I'm letting you down and everyone else down too and sometimes I can't control it and I hate myself for it and I just... I just want to be able to get through a week of school without crying..." mr Smith nodded.
"First, you're not a bad student. You don't even mess around, so seriously, you aren't a bad student. Honestly, I cry a lot too. I have no idea why, and sometimes it's really annoying, but I just do. And you just have to excuse yourself for a while if you can, and if not just try and explain it, but you'll figure out your own way, I'm sure," Robyn managed a small smile, before looking sheepishly at the ground.Mr Smith stood up from his chair, and Robyn looked up at him with slight disappointment.
He then bent down and wrapped his arms over her shoulders. Robyn was taken aback, but awkwardly held Mr Smith's back with an air of uncertainty. She was sure it breached safety, but knowing what happened in this school with fire and god knows what else, she didn't think it was all that bad.
"Thank you," she mumbled as Mr Smith stepped back.
"We should get back to class," he said stiffly, exiting the room. Robyn frowned slightly then followed.
