Chapter 8

Clark's POV

"Hello?" I answer the phone.

"Clark, there's been a little change in plans. I'm not going to be able to help you with Lana."

"Why? Chloe, I need your help. I know Lois is going to be prying for answers you and I both know I can't share."

"Lois?"

"You didn't know she was coming back?"

"No. Haven't you tried to convince her not to come back?"

"Yes, but you know Lois."

"Anyways, the reason why I can't help you is because Jimmy called and he needs me. I can't abandon him. I will be leaving in a few hours."

I really need her, but I can't keep her from her injured husband.

"I understand. But, what should I do about Lois?"

Silence.

"I guess you're just going to have to distract her. Send her on little 'missions' until you find Lana."

"Okay. Do you know when you'll be back?"

"I should get back in three weeks or less."

"Well, tell Jimmy I said to get well soon."

"Okay. Call me when you find her."

"I will. Bye."

I ended the call.

Lois' POV

"Hey, Smallville." It looks like he just got off the phone. I must have startled him, because he flinched when I spoke.

"Hey, Lois. When did you get here?"

"About an hour ago. No thanks to you."

"I would've- you didn't..."

"Calm down, I'm just messing with you."

The words just come so easily, but I'm still not over him.

"So when are we starting the investigation?"

"What?"

"You know, your missing girlfriend. Don't tell me I came back for nothing, Smallville."

"Shouldn't you rest first, I mean you just got back you must be tired."

"Sure." Ouch. I guess he doesn't want to hang out with me. "I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Yeah, tomorrow."

I left to go to the talon to see Chloe.

When I got there no one was there, so I figured I would head out, but as I was leaving I saw a note on the counter.

Hey Lois, I bet you're probably wondering where I am. I decided I would go see Jimmy for a few weeks, so you and Clark will have to find Lana by yourselves. No, I'm not setting you up, because he has a girlfriend who is my best friend. I will see you in about 3 weeks.

Well this is great. When we find Lana, I'm going to be the one standing there while they are sucking face.

Chloe's POV

"Jimmy!" I smiled when I saw him. I went to give him a hug.

"Ow."

"Sorry." I quickly let go of him and my smile faded. "So how have you been?"

"In terrible pain, alone, and bored out of my mind."

"I should have came sooner."

"It's not your fault. I should've called sooner."

We sat in silence for a while.

"So, what have I missed?"

"Nothing much since the wedding from hell. But now Oliver and Clark hate each other, and we think Oliver kidnapped Lana."

"So a lot of things have happened since I left. How did Clark and Oliver start hating each other?"

"I don't know. It just happened." I lied. I hate lying to him, but Clark doesn't want Jimmy to be involved in the dangers of knowing his secret. I just want Jimmy to be safe.
