CHAPTER 2- RAINING CATS AND DOGS

                                                                        FLORA'S P.O.V

I gave my mum a kiss on the cheek and ran for the door, “Be careful!” She yelled from behind me but I wasn’t listening to her because the weather was just so beautiful. It was that time of the year when the weather was just indescribably perfect. Not too cold or too hot, but definitely more on the warmer side. So to match this perfect weather I was wearing my denim shorts that reached down to my knees, an off the shoulder white top, my white flats and my blonde hair in a simple plat.

I walked towards the mall but on the way saw a little coffee shop on the side of the road and it was calling out to me so I had go to at least check it out and possibly get a cup of coffee. As I entered everyone was staring. That’s the first thing I realized as I walked into the coffee shop. Not staring at the wall, at each other or the floor, they were staring at me. The feeling wasn’t too foreign to be honest. They quickly adverted their eyes away from me as I gave them a deathly glare. I may be mute but I’m one girl you don’t want to mess with.

They were all from my ex high school as I am starting College tomorrow and they knew what had happened years ago. I speed walked to the counter and ordered my cup of coffee by pointing to which one I want on the menu considering that the guy that works here doesn’t know any sign language. I think his name was Steve, but who cares? I shrugged my shoulders and Steve gave me a weird look. After I get my coffee, I’m running out of here like a bull chasing after me. I didn’t want to be around people that stared at me like I’m some creep that they can just start staring at because I can’t verbally fight back. Oh if it weren’t for that accident years ago.

Just as I got my coffee and was about to leave, the sound of a thunder stopped me in place, I was terrified. Everything was frozen in place, like the world had stopped turning. I was let out of my trance as I felt a poke in my back, something long and thin poking me.

I turned around and there he was, like my savior. Tuning me out of the thunderstorm and in into his warm little cozy world. With his long brown hair that reached his shoulders, geeky glasses and green eyes like never ending grass, and I never wanted to leave. But unfortunately good things always has to come to an end because the worker was calling out for someone named Noah very loudly but getting no answer in return.

I turned to the guy in front of me and poked him on his left shoulder and pointed towards the counter just incase it was his order while having some curious looks shot our way. But then he did the unexpected by using sign language. Was he mute? Just like me. Or deaf? Did he see me pointing at my order?

I'm Noah he signed. I'm going to go with him being deaf by the looks of the frustrated worker trying to find out who Noah is.

Your coffee’s getting cold I signed back. His lip twitched into a small smile.

It can wait. What’s your name?

Flora

Do you want to go somewhere else?

It’s raining cats and dogs outside

Great, I love animals.

I couldn’t help but grin.
