Joy woke with a start. She couldn't see. She couldn't move. Her body ached, her stomach was queasy and she was thirsty. She tried to break the restraints like she had last time, but they wouldn't break. She didn't know if she was just weak or if they restraints were stronger. How had Dimitri found her? Who had taken her? There couldn't have been a vampire, they hadn't canceled the alarm because vampires were near. She hadn't smelled that vampire smell. The smell of blood mixed with ice. She hadn't smelled it at all. Who had taken her? Where was she? Why was it dark?
"Help me!" She called out. "Hello?"
"Shh." Same a soft voice. "Don't make any noise. They will come. It gets bad when they come?"
"They? Who are they? Who are you?" Joy asked the female voice.
"Whisper... Please." The female asked. "They... Meaning vampires. One is called Zane. He works for another named Dimitri." She paused for a moment. "I am... Shh."
Joy heard the sound of cracking or breaking limbs. Crunching leaves, told her they were outside somewhere. Maybe in a dug out hole. She knew it wasn't the same place as before, it smelled different. She smelled dirt and water and fear mixed with pain. But before she could think on that any longer, light blinded her. Someone came in and soon the door was closed again. The light was gone for a moment. She closed her eyes to pretend she was asleep. She saw light behind her closed eyelids. She heard footsteps moving around. Then they stopped.
"She's still out cold." Came a gruff male voice. "No, I swear to you shes alive... I am well aware you need her alive... The girl... Yes she gave the information, it was a fairly clean extraction... I waited until she was brought to me. She's in the same spot as the other... Of course... Yes, Ill keep you posted on when she wakes... Do i proceed with the other? Her change is close... Ill await your answer. See you in a few days."
A few days? She'd be here for a few days? Where was here? She needed to pay attention to everything because she had to formulate a plan to get out. She had to figure out exactly where she was being kept, so that she could possibly ask the Moon Goddess to send help.
"Wake up, bitch. I've got plans for you." The voice growled to her right
"Please... No more. Please. I've done everything you asked. So has she." The female cried.
A slap sounded through the air, "You will do as I say." He growled.
Joy heard scraping, a chain rattling, and a soft whimpering. She smelled the woman's fear. Joy felt helpless. She couldn't help the poor woman. She wouldn't let him know she was awake. If she wanted to stay unharmed she had to have a plan.
Rage! Where are you?
Something struck her while she lay there listening to the woman's panicked breathing. She took a deep breath and opened her mind.
Anyone? Rage? Moon Goddess? Anyone help me! I am not alone. There is a woman here. She's suffering badly.
She prayed someone heard her pleas. A crack sounded in the air, followed by a cry of pain. Joy wanted to take the pain away from the woman. But she couldn't. The woman took what was handed to her with minimal noise. Joy wanted to stop the beating, but doing so would mean she would get it next. But she had to wait. When they were alone again, she would explain why she didn't wake up. She would use the woman's information to formulate a plan.Raven burst into the office looking as if he was panicked. He seemed distressed, upset, excited. He took a few seconds to catch his breath before speaking.
"I was on patrol of the perimeter..." He began, "I... I heard Joy. She called for help."
"Heard? So she's close?" Rage asked as he jumped out of his seat.
"No. Sit down, I will explain." Raven told him as Rage sat back down. "I have a gift. One I've kept hidden. I am special. I can communicate with people, certain people, through the mind. I can do so much. But through that mind connection I heard Joys cry for help."
"What did she say?" Rage demanded.
"Anyone? Rage? Moon Goddess? Anyone help me! I am not alone. There is a woman here. She's suffering badly." Raven told him. "But the downside to this is I can not tell you where she is, unless she knows where she is and can tell me."
Rage roared in aggregation. "I want Blaine here. He needs to bring Charity and Roe here asap."
Raven nodded and turned and left. Rage stood and began to pace. He felt helpless. He couldn't leave the compound, because Dimitri was after him, but his mate was missing and most likely in Dimitris hands. He couldn't feel more helpless if he tried. He needed to figure out which of those women told vital information and got his mate kidnapped. If they didn't tell someone, then they somehow got the information to someone. He needed answers now. His mate was in danger and so was another person. Two people were in danger. Two people could die if he didn't get answers soon.
His office door opened and Blaine came in followed by two women. Both stood about five foot four. One had long black hair and green eyes. The other had fire red hair that hit her shoulders. Her green eyes wouldn't meet his. This one would have the answers. He motioned them into the chairs opposite his desk.
"I assume Raven told you that there is new information." Rage directed the statement to Blaine.
"Of course. More than one life is at risk." Blaine said eyeing the women.
Rage nodded. "So ladies, you were talking to my patrolman when someone snuck into camp and took my mate. Want to tell me who took her and where?" He stared at them.
"I... I don't know. We were just making conversation with two nice looking men." Said the black haired one.
"Your name?" Rage demanded.
"Roe." She said softly. "I was unaware if any such happenings. I didn't even know you had a mate."
Rage turned his attention to the red head. "You must be Charity." She nodded. "Any input on who came into my compound and took my mate?"
"No... No, sir. I do not know who took her." She mumbled not meeting his gaze.
"I believe you know something." Rage stated sounding angry. "Here's the deal ladies. One or both of you know who took her and how they got in. Unless one of you start talking, you both will be in holding until I get the information I desire."
Neither of the responded but Blaine looked upset. "You can't put them in holding, they arent your pack."
"This is my compound. This land is under my control. I can put them in holding, if I believe them to me spies for the vampires." Rage explained. "If Joy dies, if she dies or gets terribly hurt, one or both of you will be put to trial. Again I ask... Any information you want to tell me?" They remained silent. "Alright. Holding it is."
He stood and put thick silver handcuffs on the women. He led them to the door that led down to the holding cells. He didn't want to put them on the cells, but they weren't safe. If they told information on how to find the compound or how to get in, they were traitors. People he didn't want in his camp. The cells were concrete lined with thick bars separating them. He put Roe in one and took her cuffs off. He put Charity in the other and took her cuffs off.
"Food will be delivered at meal times. I will come and make sure you ladies are fine. If you choose to tell me what I need to know, I will let you go. Only if you tell me and it is the truth."
