Joy was strapped to the chair in the middle of the room again. Dimitri and his helper, who she learned was named Zane, had returned and found Chastity gone. They had quickly set to beating her with their fists. She hadn't passed out again. She felt every strike, punch, and kick. They finally stopped and Zane moved her to the chair again. They had the battery charger hooked up again. They also had a tray of knives and needles laying on top. She was too weak to fight against them. She lay there looking at the tray of weapons dreading the attack that was to come. She closed her eyes and prayed that she would make it out of this attack alive. She was growing weaker. Her body was exhausted. Her strength was diminishing. But she still had the will to survive.
Dimitri came toward her with a grin. He reached down and grabbed a knife. He twirled it in his hands while staring at her. She looked him in the eye. He was furious. Chastity had vanished and he blamed her.
"Where did she go?" He demanded as a pounding on door stopped him. He turned to Zane. "Get that."
She heard Zane moving around and the door creaked open. She heard footsteps come inside and the door creaked closed. She heard more than one pair of footsteps coming toward her.
"Did you find her?" Dimitri demanded of their company.
"No. I followed her scent as far as I could. But it disappeared at the meeting spot." Came a smooth masculine voice.
"I see. Your informant? Has she been found?" Dimitri glared at whoever it was.
"Blaine kicked her out. She's at the compound. That's all I gathered when I ran into them at the meeting spot. They were headed back." The male voice explained calmly.
"I see." Growled Dimitri. "I am not happy about this." He sighed. "Was Blaine suspicious?"
"Not that I was aware. He was more pissed than anything. I didn't ask why."
Before Dimitri could respond there was another knock on the door. This time soft, like weak or someone afraid to knock. Dimitri glared at the door. He held the knife as if ready for battle. He pointed to the door. She heard Zanes shuffle as he opened the door. No one spoke for a while.
"Go see who it was." Dimitri growled.
"I'll go, Zane." Said the male.
She heard him leave and she couldn't help but hope it was help here for her. She heard growling and small shouts. Dimitri growled deep in his throat. She heard Zane shuffle out. Dimitri moved to unstrap her. He grabbed her around her sore ribs. She cried out as he pulled her back against his chest. He held the knife to her throat and slowly made his way out of the bunker. The scene she saw made her jaw drop. She saw large wolves in various colors fighting. Fighting one lone black wolf and Zane. She saw the four wolves attacking both men, as if tag teaming. She saw a wolf that stood out against the others. It was taller by quite a few inches. It was jet black with a good sized crescent moon next to its eye. The wolf caught sight of them and hunkered down. The sight of Dimitri holding Joy made him furious. Dimitri held her super thin body against him with one strong arm. The other bent at the elbow and holding a large knife to her throat. Joy met his gaze and she looked scared. He smelled her fear. But he saw recognition in her eyes. He heard a whimper from behind him, but he couldn't take his eyes off the vampire and his mate.
"Well, well, well." Dimitri growled. "Looks like the alpha has made his appearance. Now why would he be here? Surely I haven't kidnapped his mate, have I?" He chuckled. "Oh how the tables have turned."
Rage took a few steps forward while growling. Dimitri shifted the knife ever closer to her neck. He saw her wince.
"Now, I have you where I want you." Dimitri began. "My men will distract you." Dimitri frowned looking past him.
Rage took that moment to look back and saw that the wolf, he knew was Xavier, was dead. He looked around and didn't see Zane at all. That made him uneasy. A missing vampire was dangerous. His three warriors moved to circle around the area. Trapping Dimitri with Rage. Joy looked at him with a pleading stare. She looked so weak and tired. She was slowly getting limper. This worried him. Dimitri tried to take a step back and was met by a round of growls. Passion was now behind him. He was close enough to take hold of him. He waited and watched Rage. Rage took a careful step forward. Dimitri shifted uncomfortably while looking all around.
"I'll give you the girl if you let me free." Dimitri said suddenly. Wrath shook his head. "Let me go free and I will give you the girl. Let me go free and I wont kill her."
Rage shook his head and stepped closer. He tilted his head slightly and gave a quick paw at the ground. His signal. Passion linged forward grabbing onto Dimitris upper thigh. Dimitri lost his balance and let Joy go. He raced forward changing back to human form to try and catch her. But she crumpled to the ground. Her body laying in a tangled mess. He knelt down and scooped her up and raced out of the action. He set her on a fallen tree and began to examine her. Her throat had a shallow cut that was bleeding slightly. She was limp. He had to hold her upright while he looked at her. She was pale. She had burn marks on her arms, legs and stomach. It was the first time he realized that she was naked. He looked up to see what was going on with Dimitri. His warriors were heading his way. Dimitri was gone. They had lost him. He picked Joy up and began jogging back the way they came. She was now asleep and breathing shallow. He didn't want to panic but this worried him. He was feeling her slowly slip away from him. He raced back as fast as he could.
After what seemed like forever, he finally reached the compound. He raced for the clinic and followed a worried Ari to a private room. He laid her on the bed. Ari began pushing him out.
"Go. There's a matter you need to deal with. Exam room one. Be quiet when you go in." She said in a rush and closed the door in his face.
He wanted to just open the door and go inside and be with Joy, but Ari liked to work alone or with one of her nurses. He was curious about what was in exam room one. He carefully pushed open the door and went inside. He came up short when he saw two babies sleeping in beds. One was covered in a pink blanket and the other was covered in blue. They were small but not newborn small. They looked a few months old. He stepped forward to get a closer look. The door opened and Sam came in.
She handed him an envelope. "This came with them. We didn't read it and there was no name on it."
He nodded and opened it. Afraid of what it held. Were these babies his? Could they possibly be his? He pulled out a folded piece of paper.
In a small fine print it read:Dear Passion,
I hate to write this letter. I have no choice. I left the pack years ago, as you know. What you don't know was why I left. I left because I couldn't take pack life. I never went through my change and seeing everyone do what I was denied, killed me. I had to leave.
Once I left, I met a man. He made me feel such great things. Made me feel wanted and loved. But that didn't last too long. Once we got married, he changed. He would beat me for everything. During one beating, I changed. It scared him at first, but he locked me in our basement for safe keeping.
This went on for years. Then I ended up pregnant with twins. He didn't beat me as hard as before. He gave me free reign of the house. He took me shopping for the babies and he went to all doctors appointments. I knew I needed to figure out how to keep them safe from him. I was afraid for their lives.
They were born three months ago. A month early. He didn't like how tired I was. He wouldn't help with them. He got angry and tried to smother one of them. That was my last straw.
So I am asking you, big brother, please take care of them. Please raise them and show them love. Tell them I love them. Make sure they are loved. Let them know I didn't have a choice. I can't leave. He wont let me. But he wants them gone. Please Passion.
Love,
Luck.P.S. Their names are Cree and Crew. I packed as many clothes and things as I could fit in their bags. You should have enough formula for a few weeks. They eat between two and three ounces every four hours.
Let them know I didn't have a choice. I can't leave. He wont let me. But he wants them gone.
I trust you can keep them safe.
He folded the letter and turned to Sam. "Get Passion please."
