To the beach and beyond

Jack was waiting in the hall. His and Emma's bags were packed and his surf board was unclosed in it's case. Emma nudged his arm and opened the door. Jack came back to earth with a bump, stared around the tiny hall one last time and heaved his bags and board through the creaky door.

Together, they took the lift down to the bottom floor and caught the bus outside. Jack looked at the people on the bus. He might be competing against some of them. The bus was scheduled to go to Imperial Beach and he had booked two tickets on it.

"Jack move it, your blocking the stairs!" Emma said to him from behind. Jack then heaved his luggage into an overhead closet, let Emma go find a seat and quickly went to store his board underneath the bus.

Once back on, he searched for a seat. Somehow, Emma had managed to find a friend of hers and was chatting happily in the lumpy seat next to her. Jack smiled at her and she gave him a small wave before turning back to her friend. Most of the people ignored him but one guy sitting near the front, wearing black everywhere, glared menacingly at him.

Jack raised his eyebrow in surprise and decided to sit on his own on the window seat nearer the back. He pulled his hood over his head and leant against the window so that if someone came and sat next to him, they wouldn't see his face, took out a pair of blue headphones and a second hand IPod and lost himself in his music, though he couldn't shake off the feeling that the black haired guy didn't like him, at all.

Meanwhile.....

Elsa and Anna were outside their huge house. Anna had brought way too much and was surrounded by 4 bags, stuffed full of random items. Elsa had gone smaller, only having the one suitcase and her bodyboard, which was in its case.

"Where's that damn bus, it's been an hour now!" Anna groaned to Elsa, who sighed at her sisters impatience.

"Anna, it's been 2 minutes," She replied patiently.

"2 minutes of my life that's been wasted," Anna muttered.

Suddenly, a loud vrrrooooommmm filled the air as the bus rounded the corner of their street and drew up to a halt beside them.

"What were you saying?" Elsa said to Anna, smiling.

"Nothing," Anna said quietly and hastened to get on the bus, whose doors had been opened by the driver.

Elsa stowed away her board and followed suit. She shoved her suitcase into an overhead compartment and looked around for a seat. A few guys on the bus were staring at her, patting the empty seats next to them. She ignored them and decided to sit next to the only decent looking guy who had an available seat next to him. He had blue headphones on and was dozing quietly, his head on the window. He had his hood up so she couldn't see his face.

She looked away and brought out a brand new copy of her favourite book- 'The Ice Queen'. She started to read and got lost in a world of ice, snow and a powerful Queen.

2 hours later.....

The bus shuddered to a halt in sunny California. To those next to the window, a beautiful beach was stationed. Crashing waves and golden sands.

Elsa jerked her head up from her imagination. Anna, who was behind her, nudged her up and together they managed to cram all of Anna's ridiculous luggage and Elsa's board into their arms.

The boy by the window woke up. He didn't take off his headphones or hood but got up slowly, stretched to the sky and back and made his way out of the coach, passing Elsa and Anna. A smaller girl trailed behind him, pulling a tattered suitcase.

The boy reached up to pull down a big suitcase from the overhead lockers, but as he did so, his blue hood fell back, revealing pale skin, blue eyes and wind tossed silvery white hair. He noticed the two girls staring at him and quickly pulled his hood back up. The small girl pushed him forwards and they got off the bus.

"Weird huh? Looks like you doesn't he Elsa?" Anna said.

"Wha? Oh, y-yeah, I guess," Elsa started. Anna grinned teasingly and grabbed her arm (both hands were filled with bags) and pulled her off the bus and towards the beach.

The fresh air was refreshing against the girls skin. A salty smell filled their noses as they made their way down and onto the beach.

Sunbathers and Surfers stared at them as they passed. Elsa and Anna knew they must look ridiculous with this amount of luggage on a beach.

"Elsa look!" Anna suddenly screeched. Elsa turned her head to the left and saw a magnificent structure, made from dark brown wood and glass. Big windows were placed on the upper floors with small balconies, towels and wetsuits hanging from the railings. A sign was hand painted over the entrance, it read- 'Surfers and Boarders Open lodgings'.

"Wow," Anna mouthed. Wow, just about summed it up.

Meanwhile....

Jack and Emma were staring around their room, it had 3 rooms. 2 of which were bedrooms (Both had onsuit bathrooms) and the other, a small living room area. Both bedrooms had mini-fridges and balconies that overlooked the beach.

Emma squealed, dropped her suitcase on the floor and ran into the bigger bedroom yelling;

"I call dibs on this one!"

Jack was half amused, half exasperated. He closed the door and placed his board gently against the wall. Then, he ran into the room and tackled Emma onto the giant bed.

"The tickle monster says that Jack has to have this room!" He said to Emma in a gruff voice and put on a gruesome face.

Emma giggled. "But the tickle monster didn't call dibs on it first, I did! So ha!"

Jack started to tickle Emma. "The tickle monster will tickle you to death if he doesn't get what he wants,"

Emma squealed again and said; "All right all right, you win!"

"Haha," Jack grinned,"I knew I would,"

"Meanie," Emma pouted and punched his arm.

"Ow,"

"You deserved it,"

"Did not,"

"Did too," Emma stuck her tounge out at him. Jack raised his arms in defeat and Emma grinned.

"Now," She said to him, "To the balcony and beyond!" She mimed a superhero pose and got up of the bed. Jack followed her out onto the balcony. It was a beautiful view. The sun was going down and it cast a hazy, warm glow on the beach below.

"More like to the beach and beyond," He said to Emma, leaning his arms on the railings and letting the cool breeze drift over his face.

"Yeah," Emma replied quietly. Her brown eyes drifting over the view. Jack hoped she was happy to be here, hoped he would win, hoped their lives could be changed.

"Yeah,"
