Days of Mourning

....

It had been three days since the death of your father.

You had no wish to see his body, but you couldn't look away when his casket was sunk into the ground. Had that day been in a book or movie, it would've been raining, and everyone would be holding umbrellas.

In reality, there wasn't a cloud in the sky, and sun shone on your fathers grave.

You were the last to leave your fathers grave as dirt was poured into it, covering the flower-covered casket.

Now, it was Tuesday. After the funeral on Monday, you simply sat in bed. Your chest was quivering from the raw emotion.

Your mom had tried to cheer up, to set an example for you, but her own emotions had got the better of her, as the two of you let out your emotions after getting home.

Your phone buzzed on your nightstand. You looked up from your lap at it, it's lit up screen showing you the message. It was from Kawaii~Chan. It wasn't the first either. All of yesterday, you had been receiving messages from your friends at school. You ignored them all.

They day was bright, in no way matching your mood. Even if you could speak, you wouldn't have let a word leave your mouth, for fear of releasing another sob.

You stared at the walls of your room, painted white, with no posters hung up. You blinked, shifting your view to your hands. You squeezed your eyes shut, as you recalled a certain event, years ago. You had no memory of your life before you turned five, but the realization of your father's death had brought back one memory, from before then.

The original crash. All it was, was a flash of images, and sounds, almost incomprehensible. Screams, light, you trying to cry, but not uttering a single sound, except for the sickly noise of blood bubbling from your neck as you tried to scream.

Your body started to quiver from the recollection, before you were snapped out of it by a knock on your door. You snapped your head up, breathing heavily, and looking at your mom.

"Hey honey. Everything all right?" You shook your head. You held up a slightly shaky hand.

  What caused it?

Your mother sighed, paused, and answered.

"Same as the last one. A drunk douchebag got a bit happy behind the wheel." You looked up at your mom in shock. You had never heard her utter any word of the sort. But then again, you would've done the same. Looking down, you held up your hands again.

What was the original crash like?

Your mother paused again, sitting on the bed. You thought she wasn't going to answer for a minute.

"It was sunny, like yesterday. Your father was driving, when a car behind us, started to swerve. It sped up, and I was getting ready to call the police, when they slammed into our side. The passenger side. I was slammed into the door, and the glass slit my arm open. Our car was forced against a wall, and the driver door fell off. We flipped over, and your dad's leg hit the ground hard, as well as a twisted piece of metal.  My arm was bleeding really bad when I crawled out of the car, dragging your father out. People were helping us. When I cried out that you were in the back, they ripped the car apart to get you out. And when the ambulance got you into the truck, with blood pouring out of your neck...." your mother paused, tears streaming down her face.

"I was... so worried that you'd....that you'd...." she started to sob, before taking a few breaths. You rubbed her back, and she looked at you, smiling.
