Don't say yes to every task that people throw at you, especially if it didn't come from your line manager and has no direct benefit to your portfolio.
It's okay to say no.
Saying yes to everything will risk you being snowed under with tasks that are not relevant to your core job objectives. You can also risk neglecting the important tasks and miss your deadlines. Or end up unnecessarily working overtime and weekends.
There are times where overtime and weekend work may be required, but don't put any extra work that could have been avoided.
Work smarter, not harder.
