{JOYCE'S POV}

I quickly dressed into my school uniform, feeling proud, I walked to school. The sun shone brightly on my face with a temperature of 93 degrees Fahrenheit.

AFTER SCHOOL...

Shoot! I can't believe I was being called to my homeroom, and on top of that, on the freaking announcements, after school! I don't think that the situation I'm in is very good. Sigh...

I entered my homeroom and found Mr. Cordone eyeing me with the There-Are-Some-Bad-News look, the minute I walked into the classroom. "Is there something wrong..?" I asked. "Joyce, I would like you to stay calm, but you received a 65% (D) on your test, which we took 2 weeks ago.

That moment when Mr. Cordone told me my result, I felt pain in my stomach.
It was the first time I had failed a test before! What would my parents say if they found out?! They're perfectionists and they always had high hopes for me! I NEED A TUTOR RIGHT NOW, THIS INSTANT, BUT THE PROBLEM IS WHO IS WILLING TO SPEND THEIR TIME TUTORING ME?! OH! I KNOW MR. CORDONE CAN HELP ME!

"Mr. Cordone, can you be my tutor, I think I need help." I whispered. Mr. Sanchez replied, "I'm sorry, I can't help you because of some personal reason, but I believe he can help you." Mr. Cordone looked at someone and I followed his gaze. I realized he was looking at Xavier, who looked back at me after I stared at how peaceful his face is when reading a book. "I can't believe he's still here, after school." I thought. Mr. Sanchez headed to his direction and spoke with him for a few minutes. A huge grin began to spread across his face as he nodded. "What in the world are they talking about?" I wondered.

I hope they're not talking about THAT. Nope never mind, they were. I realized I was right when Xavier started walking towards me and approached with a huge smile spread across his face.

So, I heard you were having some difficulties, Egghead." Xavier said in my ears. "You...! Why are you still here!" I retorted. "I was waiting for you. Why? Is there a problem." Xavier replied. "Alright Joyce! I've found an intellectual tutor for you!" Mr. Cordone said happily. "Yea, such a great tutor you've got me, Mr. Cordone." I said sarcastically. "Is there a problem with him?" Mr. Sanchez asked. "No, totally fine." I replied with a forced smile. "Then it's settled, Joyce! He will become your tutor starting... RIGHT NOW!" Mr. Sanchez yelled, nearly shaking our homeroom. "You've got to be kidding me..." I mumbled under my breath with a sigh that sounded like if my soul was going to fly out of my body.

Mr. Sanchez then, left the room, feeling proud, leaving Xavier and I in the classroom. Suddenly, Xavier backed me up against the wall with his hands. "What're you up to?" I asked. Smirking, Xavier replied, "Trouble." "YOU SON OF A... A..BISHOP! (African weaver bird) Wait! You mean the "trouble" as in tutoring me? Ha, I know right! You should just give up tutoring me. There's no way you'd do that, anyways since it's just a pain in the ass," I said. "Then are you going to ask some other person to tutor you?" asked Xavier with an annoyed look in his face. "Why? Does it concern you that much?" I questioned him. "Yes, everything about you concerns me, because you are my girlfriend. You still don't get it, do you?" Xavier replied. "Get what?" I asked. "Never mind. Anyways, I'm coming over to your house tonight, Joyce." Xavier said. "Yea, whatever." I replied.

4 HOURS LATER... (9:00)

DING DONG! DI-DI-DING DONG! "UGH SHUT UP, I'M COMING!" I yelled. DI-DI-DI-DI-DING DO-DO-DO-DO-DONG! "CAN YOU MAILMAN-WOMEN HAVE SOME PATIENCE, DAMMIT! AND WHY THE FREAK WOULD YOU DELIVER THE MAIL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!" I screamed as one of my books fell off the shelf. I went to open the door and was surprised to greet Xavier instead of the mailman-women. "Crap, I forgot that you were coming, Xavier." I said. "HAHAHAHA!" laughed Xavier, nearly coughing. "What was that about?" Xavier asked while holding his stomach. "HEY! It was all your fault! You pressed the doorbell too many times!" I exclaimed. "Okay, okay! Who was the one who didn't answer the door?" Xavier replied. "Ok, then we're even!" I said with a laugh.

"Anyways... are you going to compete in the Chess Tournament? I'm trying out for the reward." asked Xavier along with a sly look on his face.

"A Chess Tournament? Mr. Cordone never told us that there was a Chess Tournament before. But, if there is a tournament, I will participate in it because.. Wait! What's the reward if you get first place?" I said

"The reward is 3 tickets to travel to Korea for a week. However, this is going to be a competition between Hellborn High School (a high school for rich/smart people) and our high school which is Flammington High School. I submitted your entry form, too, alongside with mine, so don't worry." replied Xavier.

"Thanks, but watch out! I will be the one to beat you in this tournament!" I proclaimed.
