A.N. This one-shot is inspired by Never Grow Up by Taylor Swift, and so if you don't know the song you might want to listen to it beforehand, but each little section is going to be inspired by a verse in the song, so there will be time jumps between sections, and even within sections, but I will try to use a different line break to differentiate those. There are also pictures of Danni at the different ages she's in in the story. Also, sorry for the length on this one, but I felt like it had to be told in one go, it is divided up into three sections though to help a little bit.

"I've got the munchkin, Bob, you can get ready for bed if you want," Hunter said, unbuckling their four-year-old from her car seat. The little girl was fast asleep, although that wasn't surprising after having spent the day with her Uncle Mack and Aunt Elena, at this age, it seemed like Elena was the only one that could keep up with the rambunctious child.

As Hunter picked her up and began to carry the little girl to her bedroom, he couldn't help but think of the life that she was born into and would have to grow up with. A life filled with superheroes as well as super spies, a life that would be made a little more difficult for her due to her parents' past. Hunter and Bobbi had made a promise when they found out that they were expecting child to keep him/her away from that life for as long as they could, although with Danni's – yes, she had also inherited her mother's hatred for her first name – inquisitive nature Hunter wasn't sure how much longer that would stay a secret. They had also made a deal that Hunter would not be taking any jobs or working with SHIELD until the girl was old enough to stay at home, after that, both would reenter the field with SHIELD, but neither at the same time.

Hunter finally got the girl to her room and laid her down on the bed as he began to change her into pajamas, before tucking her in under the comforter.

"Please stay like this forever," Hunter whispered to the little girl, who had grabbed his hand at some point during the tucking-in process. "Your mum and I both are a little messed and we both regret things that we've done in our past and I don't want your life to be like." Hunter saw Danni's eyelids flutter, probably dreaming about playing with her godfather dog. Hunter cracked a small smile and brushed away the hair that had fallen into the girl's face. "My dad was a bit of a tosser, didn't really care about what I did and was barely there most of the time anyway and when he was there, he was piss drunk more often than not, but I promise that won't be anything like that. I'll make sure that you always have someone in your corner, and I'll make sure that no one will ever hurt you or break your heart, even if it kills me, which if you inherit your mum's looks it probably will." The man gave a small chuckle before going kissing the girl's forehead and moving to stand up.

"That was sweet," Hunter heard a familiar voice say. He turned his head toward the doorway and saw Bobbi leaning against the doorframe, in a shirt that was definitely his with a soft smile on her face.

"How much did you hear?" Hunter asked, crossing over to her and resting his hands on her waist.

"Enough to know that any fears you had about being a father were completely unwarranted."

"I know I should believe you, but I'm still nervous."

"It's part of our nature and our lifestyle, you can't help it. But how about I help get some of those nerves out before we go to bed?"

"Ok, but I do have more thing do before I can join you."

"Alright," Bobbi said, standing up straight and moving out of his reach and beginning to walk toward the two's room, "Just don't keep me waiting too long."

"Don't worry," Hunter called back before moving to the nightlight in the corner of his daughter's room. It was given to her by her Uncle Fitz and was in the shape of a monkey, Hunter had thought it was funny when she first got, but now the girl would rarely fall asleep unless it was on. Hunter bent down and flicked it on, just in case she woke up in the night, before going to exit the room and close the door, he did stop for a minute just to take in the moment that he wished would never end.
