[Dulst's POV]
*One year later*
I danced down the street of Magnolia in the best mood ever, dragging my partner behind me. I was completely, absolutely giddy with joy.
Iros gave me an irritated look. "Do you have to do this every time we complete a job?"
I only grinned at her as a response. The people in town gave us weird and disgusted looks, whispering behind their hands to one another.
"Look, it's those fairies."
"They're still around? I thought that they'd have given up by now."
"If only they had exterminators big enough to get rid of rats that big."
I heard the comments that they made. Iros and I could hear everything that they were saying.
But I couldn't care less!
I ran through the town, up the hill, and through the doors of Fairy Tail, not once letting go of Iros--much to her displeasure.
"You're annoying" She remarked as we strode towards Macao, who was just finishing up an argument with Wakaba.
I fake pouted, "You're mean."
Still glaring at Wakaba, Macao greeted us. "Ladies. You've returned. I take it you succeeded?"
Iros gave him her signature sarcastic look, "Obviously."
I frowned at her and repeated, "You're mean."
She glared at me and I put my hands up in mock surrender.
Macao sighed at our antics. "You two are the first team whose members don't get along." He paused, his eyes becoming sad. "At least not since...."
He didn't need to finish. We all knew that he was talking about Natsu and Gray, who would pick fights with each other daily. Even Jet, Droy, and Laki (Who were bickering about Droy's weight), silenced.
I cleared my throat of the lump that was beginning to form. "Well! I think I'll just get some tea and relax--"
I was interrupted by the doors opening, "Well well..."
Some Midnight Ogre goons came in, acting like they owned the place. Which, technically, they did.
I clenched my fists in an attempt to force down the anger that spewed out as soon as my eyes landed on those disgusting brutes.
"As always, this place is dead from the afternoon on...That's what I hate about pissant guilds!" the leader, Dreedo, remarked. A tiny member cackled in the most obnoxious way, he sounded like a possessed doll, only not as terrifying.
I forced myself to smile at them. "Can we help you?" My expression right then could have fooled a detective. Even Macao seemed surprised at how friendly I looked. Iros, on the other hand, I could tell saw right through my facade.
"We're here to collect this month's money, sweetheart."
It took all my willpower not to gag, and I managed to keep the smile on my face, though not nearly as friendly.
Macao gasped, and Wakaba leaned over towards him, "You didn't pay them yet, Macao?"
"CALL ME MASTER, DAMN IT!"
Dreedo cleared his throat, "You people are late repaying your dept."
"We didn't get any good jobs this month!" Macao retorted, "I'll pay you double next month, so just be patient!"
