Gus, the adorable mouse in Cinderella, possibly my favorite character in the movie. But unfortunately, even the best of the best have their faults. Gus is a plump mouse that Jaq finds in a mousetrap in the beginning of the movie.

He is the character that provides comedic relief throughout the movie. But in doing so, we realize he isn’t exactly the brightest bulb. Before all of this though, let’s start at the beginning of his story.

Jaq runs to Cinderella, telling her there is a mouse in the mousetrap, she grabs him some clothes and runs down to free him. Gus of course being cornered, acts defensive. But how do you go from throwing punches to being shy in a matter of seconds?

And he’s a mouse, so why does he blush and act like he likes Cinderella a little more than as a friend when he first sees her? Love is love right? No Gus, go find yourself a nice lady mouse.

Then there’s the whole cat and mouse thing. Gus is always the one messing up and getting him and Jaq in trouble with the cat. I think the mice have nine lives, not the cat. It’s like Tom and Jerry all over again.

But back to the clothes thing, Cinderella says she’ll make new clothes that actually fit Gus, but she never does. Even in the second movie, Gus is wearing his way-to-small outfit. No wonder the mouse ain’t that smart, his brain is oxygen deprived! Way to go Cindirelli, way to go. So many dangerous situations could have been avoided if you just gave him proper clothing.
