Tinkerbell

Tinkerbell is probably one of the most iconic Disney characters. She is an important character in Peter Pan, and now has her own TV show and movies. But what bothers me is the fact that Tinkerbell is a fairy, living in Pixie Hollow.

For those of you who don’t know the difference between pixies and fairies, I will explain.

A fairy looks like a miniature human, and generally has a pair dragonfly wings. They are kind natured but they are also obsessed with mirrors so they can be conceited.

Pixies on the other hand are also miniature looking humans but with pointed ears (much like elves), and generally have butterfly winds. They are narcissistic and like playing pranks on people. They can be cruel and are often rude.

So in short, fairies are often deemed the “good guys” while pixies are “evil.” And this is often emphasized in folklore with the two getting into fights. The classic good vs evil scenario.

So why does TInkerbell, a fairy, live in Pixie Hollow? And why does she use Pixie dust? Why not fairy dust? Where does pixie dust come from? If there is pixie dust, there had to have been pixies.

So I’ve concluded that there had to have been a war between pixies and fairies. The fairies’ home was pillaged and burned by the pixies leaving them homeless. The fairies retaliated and sieged the pixie’s homelands, Pixie Hollow.

They conquered the pixies and executed the survivors. The fairies found that their cremated remains had magical properties, hence Pixie Dust.

So next time you see the happy fairies prancing around their home, remember the bloodshed that corrupts their land. When you see their friendly faces throwing around Pixie Dust, just know they are using the ashes of the dead for their benefit.

But there is one question that I don’t have the answer to, why are fairies considered good, pure, if they are shameless slaughterers of the innocent pixies as well? They had to have killed the children pixies too if they caused their extinction.

Fairies aren’t quite as friendly as they seem.
