eva's pov

nicole pulled up next to me unlocking the car doors for me.

my mascara was smudged all over the bottom of my red, puffy eyes from crying.

"what happened?!" nicole said as i closed the car door.

i didn't respond so she didn't ask any more questions.

i was so tired of jack and i fighting. it had happened more and more often for some reason.

either it was me or him that did something wrong, it always ended in an argument.

tonight was supposed to be good. all we were going to do was go to diner, but jack decided to tell me something her should have told me in the beginning.

i don't even know why he would want to be included in all of this. if i had a chance to opt out, i would. but it's kind of hard when your the daughter of one of the most wanted drug lords.

before i knew it, we were at nicole's house. i haven't talked to her in so long, we had so much to catch up on.

we both went inside of the house and i immediately felt a little better. knowing i was in a room without jack made a lot of stress come off my shoulders.

i dropped my coat on the couch and walked over to the tv stand. there were pictures of antonio and nicole everywhere.

i turned around to face her. "since when have you guys been a thing?"

"since a month ago." nicole looked down at her feet. "i guess i forgot to tell you. you've been super busy with jack."

i frowned. i'm such a bad friend. i didn't even know my best friend was dating someone. "i'm sorry i haven't talk to you lately. so much has been going on and-."

"eva, it's okay." nicole laughed. "i've been focused on school and tonio, it's not just your fault."

i gave a small smile while looking around the house and we went to her room. it wasn't messy, but it was obvious that antonio has been staying there. his stuff as everywhere.

"he's been staying here too?" i giggled to lighten the mood.

"yea." she smiled brightly. "things have been going well lately."

i gasped, over dramatically. "nicole shantel hernandez?! my best friend? the one who got paid to suck dick in high school... is being held down?!"

we both busted into laughter. "i know it's crazy." she giggled. "but shit is getting serious. he doesn't just want me for sex." she continued. "you know he made me wait a month before we had sex? i was beginning to think he had at STD."

i laughed at her comment. antonio seems like the one for her.

"that's good, nic. that means he actually cared." i told her causing her smile and look down.

"he's helping me get back into my school stuff. i almost dropped out." nicole admitted.

my mouth almost dropped to the floor. drop out?! "nicole you can't drop out." i chucked a pillow at her. "that's been you dream since we were in middle school."

"i know, i know. that's why tonio has been helping me out." she said.

"speaking of antonio, where is he?" i looked around not seeing any signs of someone else in the house.

"i sent him home when you called. i figured that if he was here, you wouldn't tell me what was going on." she said and suddenly the mood was serious again.

"jack is working for my mom now, he just told me tonight." i told nicole while rolling my eyes.

"what's so bad about that?" she laughed making me confused. "it's obvious he wants to spend more time with you. he wants to do the same thing his girl is doing."

i blushed and looked down. "i know but he didn't have to wait until now to tell me."

"maybe he waited cause he knew you were going to react like this either way." nicole said making me realize it.

i reaches for my phone looking at the lock screen. there were no text or calls from jack. i knew that was bad because it meant that he stopped trying.

nicole reached for a bottle of dark liquor and handed it to me making me laugh.

"we haven't had one of these nights in a while." she said as i poured us our first cups.

i put my phone on the nightstand and spent the night with my best friend.
