Niall and Zayn were always fond of each other. Actually, Niall cared quite a lot for the other boy even before he realised he had feelings for him. He just simply had been the most giddy around him, contrary to Zayn, who was collected at all times—cool even.

It was on the Up All Night Tour when these two started becoming close friends. It was one evening where the others were out partying and Niall had got a cold, so Zayn stayed with him. Liam had pouted when he heard that they wouldn't be coming along, but either way put up with it.

So the two of them stayed in their tour bus. They had three loft beds in there and Niall decided he wanted to sleep downstairs because he knew how much Zayn liked to sleep upstairs.

"Do ya mind if I smoke a bit in here?" Zayn asked and Niall shook his head. "S'fine." It didn't really bother him as long as he opened a window while he was at it.

As soon as he smelled the smoke, Zayn's raspy voice could be heard. "Ya know, I'm thinking..." Niall waited. Zayn was the person to think about his words before speaking—unlike Niall, who often bubbled up with words and sentences. "I'm thinking," he picked up again, "I've been feeling weird lately. So much stuff is happening so quickly."

"Yeah," Niall gave back and his tone was as dry as his throat. He stared at the bed over him, imagining that Zayn was probably staring at the ceiling too. Zayn was the cool guy. Smoking cigarettes, wearing ripped jeans and being all moody at times. Niall admired him. It wasn't that Niall was insecure. It was just that he liked the way Zayn showed how much he cared about someone even though you would least expect it. And also how calm he always was even though nerves were burning inside him.

They laid there in silence a few more minutes until Zayn's head plopped up next to him, heads over. He had a big grin plastered on his face. "Make some room, you little germ spreader."

Niall cackled while scooting to the right so that Zayn would have a little room next to him. Quickly, Zayn sprung off his own bed and squeezed next to him.

They both turned so that they could look at each other better. Zayn put a hand on Niall's forehead. "I don't think you have a fever," he concluded, "But don't you dare pass on your germs to me."

Niall shook his head, giggling under his breath. "Idiot." Then he became serious again. "You've been really quite lately."

Zayn shrugged. "I don't know. I've been thinking a lot."

"About?" Niall quickly asked. He cared for the boy so naturally, he wanted to help him.

"I'm just so fucking confused, you know?" Zayn sighed, not really answering his question, "I can't really make out my feelings."

Niall didn't quite understand. Was there someone Zayn had feelings for?

He raised an eyebrow, "Well, who is she?"

"It's not a she," Zayn said and turned over on his back.

"Oh," was all Niall said and it left him even more confused than before.

It was a few weeks later at a concert and Niall couldn't get Zayn's words out his head. "It's not a she." He didn't know Zayn was bisexual and there had never been a reason for him to question it either. He guessed it was pretty obvious that he himself was gay—but Zayn? He just had never thought of it. Sure, Zayn had been a little flirty here and there, but Niall never put a lot of thought into it. Well, that was until now.

Now, you see, Niall noticed every touch, every move, every word Zayn made towards him. He couldn't help it.

They were singing More Than This and the crowd was singing it back to them.
