CYRENE

A wave of pleasure crashed over her as she spasmed around Deimos' knot. He followed her almost immediately with his release, filling her insides with his seed. He turned them so that she was laying over him while they were joined. She hated these moments. After the pleasure had faded and they were locked together, forced to remain close- exposed to one another. Thankfully, with this last joining, she felt the insufferable fever that plagued her during her heat finally lift. She knew instinctively that her heat had finally ended.

Exhaustion consumed her. She had only slept for a few hours during the last two days. She rested her head on his chest and closed her eyes, trying to pretend she was somewhere else since she could not pull away while his knot locked them together. The closeness of the moment was fictitious- a mockery of what a true pairing could have been. It disgusted and saddened her. It made her almost miss the freeing madness of her heat, when she had no awareness, no guilt, no obligations, no worries or fears. When she only had pleasure and anger- easy, simple emotions. But awareness had returned bit by bit over the past several hours, and with it the weight of her burdens and repercussions of her choices. She also had gained increasing cognizance of the Bond- a curling, pulsing, twisting thing inside her chest, pulling at her insides.

"It has ended, mate?" Deimos brought his hand up, tracing the outline of the Warrior Marks across her back. She could feel through the Bond that he did not like the Marks on her skin.

'Well he can shove that up his ass. I earned these Marks. As much as any soldier in the Skulk, or any warrior in the Pack.'  Cyrene had given her life to the Skulk and earned these marks over many years, with many battles. She also had the scars to prove it. Surprisingly, Deimos did not seem to mind the scars that littered her body. Although, she supposed he was used to seeing scars as he was covered in them. The one that marred is face just one of many.

"Yes. It is finally over," she grumbled. She should have never gone into heat in the first place if it weren't for his treachery in giving her laced tea.

"I admit, I am disappointed yet relieved. I desire your body greatly, and you gave it to me so willingly when you lost yourself to your heat. It was carnal and beautiful. But, the King and I need information from you, mate, and each day that passes, our impatience grows." He rolled them over so that he, once again, was on top of her, pinning her to the bedroll beneath them.

Cyrene said nothing. She knew what he was after, but she would never disclose where she had instructed Galena and the Vibora that saved her to go. She prayed that Galena was alive, unharmed, and that the Vibora honored the life debt and took her to Lead Jaecar. And that Lead Jaecar was not part of the Leads that agreed to the King and the Commander's plans. She also hoped that Hibi was being good for Galena, the horse did have a mean streak.

Impatiently, Deimos demanded, "tell me where you sent her. I do not wish to force the truth from your lips."

"I sent her away. To someone that will help. That is all I can tell you, that's all I know." Cyrene knew that Galena was her only hope at the moment to get the truth to Lead Jaecar. If she did not make it, Cyrene's efforts would be for naught. She tried not to give into panic at that thought. Lead Jaecar would rally the Skulk, he was a man who valued integrity highly. He would chose the honorable path for the future, redirecting her people's course for what lay ahead.

Deimos wrapped a hand around her throat, she did not attempt to stop him. He could overpower her easily. She would need distance or a weapon to be a real threat to him. Without either, she needed to just be brave and stand her ground.

"You are already going to be punished for shooting the King. This will be a harsh punishment, do not add further injury," he warned.

"I can say no more," Cyrene replied. "You must do what your duty demands, just as I must. I will not hate your for it." This she understood- duty. He needed to try and get information from her, as was his duty to his king. While she must keep her duty to her people, especially the omegas, to see this through to the end. To share the truth. Give the people a chance to choose their own fates.
