sunday noon: y/n's aunt's house, daegu
y/n rang the doorbell of her aunt's house, glancing at jungkook who was playing with the hem of his sleeve nervously, a basket of fruits in his other hand.
he was clad in a white button up and black trousers with a dark-coloured belt securing it around his waist. his button up was tucked into his pants and the sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, showing off his slim waist as well as his forearms.
meanwhile, she wore a simple pair of leggings and yellow cropped sweater, her hair in their normal waves and her eyes lined with a natural-looking light brown eyeshadow.
she rested a hand on his shoulder, rubbing it comfortingly, "what's wrong kookie? are you nervous?"
he nodded and swallowed, "are you sure we should've brought fruits? i feel like green tea would've been better."
"trust me, my aunt would prefer fruits. anyway, why are you so nervous? you've met my parents before and you were totally fine," she pointed out.
"i wasn't dating you then, i didn't care what your parents thought of me, "he protested, "but now i do, and i'm just afraid i'll mess something up."
"okay, first of all, you don't need to worry since we're not meeting my strict parents, we're meeting my relaxed and laid back aunt. even if we do see them, you don't need to pay any attention to them since all they can do is criticise people. secondly, what is there to mess up on? the only way you can mess up is if you threw food in my aunt's face," she chuckled, "kook, relax. there isn't anything you should be worried about."
hearing that, he did calm down a little, just in time as the door opened, revealing a girl that looked similar to y/n. the younger squealed and threw her arms around the older girl's neck, hugging her tightly.
"unnie! you're here," she grinned as she pulled away and glanced at jungkook, a spark of curiosity flashing in her eyes, "and you must be jungkook."
he nodded, giving her a small smile, "yes, i am. i take it you're eunrin? y/n's younger sister?"
eunrin's eyes gleamed with joy of being recognised, "yup, welcome to daegu," she the turned back to her sister, "everyone is in the backyard, come in."
the girl stepped aside, letting them in before she led them to the backyard. it was huge, the ground covered in a layer of lush, green grass and dotted with different types of flowers. trees and bushes lined the border, sitting against the fence while it laid on the soil. there were benches and tables placed on the grass, a barbecue open a few meters away from everything. balloons, streamers, bubbles and toys were laying around, being used by the other kids that were here.
"see? a normal family gathering," y/n smiled as jungkook slid his arm around her waist, tugging her closer into his side as he shifted on his feet nervously. she took his hand, holding it instead as she led him over to her aunt, who was standing by one of the tables which had all the snacks.
"aunt seoyoon!" she called cheerfully, attracting the older woman's attention.
"y/n? is that you? oh my god, you're so tall now!" the woman went ahead and hugged her, pulling away and grinning, "welcome back to daegu, how was your flight?"
she shrugged, "it was okay, anyway," she grabbed jungkook's arm and pulled him forward, he scratched the back of his neck nervously and glanced at seoyoon, looking back to y/n as she started to talk again, "aunt, this is jungkook, he is my boyfriend. and kookie, this is aunt seoyoon, my mother's sister."
jungkook bowed, holding out the fruit basket for her, "hello, thank you for allowing me to come to your family gathering," he greeted politely.
"wow, so polite," she smiled and took the basket gratefully before setting it on the table behind her, but she said it in another language than he couldn't entirely understand.
