~ fifteen years later ~
"hey kook, can you check up with suhae on her practice?" y/n asked, plopping down on the couch next to him with a case file in her hands.
"alright."
fifteen years after the dinner they had with their friends, and many things have changed. for one, they were now married, y/n took on his last name and is now known as 'mrs jeon' instead of 'ms y/l/n'. they also had kids now, a girl and a boy, five years apart. the girl, suhae, was at dance practice while her younger brother, jeongsan, was currently sleeping on the floor above them peacefully.
jungkook brought out his phone, tapping on his daughter's contact.
jungkook: how is practice going?
delivered - 5:47pmdarling daughter: bad, i want to stab everybody here
5:50pmjungkook: okay just don't get any blood on your clothes
delivered - 5:50pmdarling daughter: you're a police officer, you shouldn't be condoning this
5:51pmjungkook: don't tell me how to live my life
seen - 5:51pm"so, what did she say?" y/n prompted, her eyes skimming over the papers in front of her.
"she said it was fine," he told her, resting his chin on her shoulder as he peered at the words printed onto the paper, "jagi," he gently pressed his lips against the nape of her neck, trying to get a reaction from her.
she hummed in response, her eyes not straying away from the file.
"can i have attention?" he whined, the tip of his nose brushing against her skin. when he got no reply, he pouted and started peppering her neck with kisses, causing her to lose her focus as he tilted her chin to the side, giving him more space as he straightened up.
"kook, i need to focus on this," she murmured, pulling away from him slightly.
"it's the weekend babe, you don't need to work," he argued, moving closer to her and attaching his mouth back onto her skin, gently sucking from time to time.
she sighed, "let me just get this sentence down, then we can watch a movie or something," she reached forward and swiped a pencil from the coffee table, scribbling a few words down on the file before closing it and placing it on the table.
he grinned happily, grabbing the tv remote and turning it on, choosing a movie before pulling her body towards his, lying down with her in front of him. he draped his arms around her waist, his leg overlapping hers with no hesitation as he lightly kissed the back of her neck before turning his attention to the movie.
"are we just gonna stay like this for the whole day?" she mumbled.
he hummed, "until night, then we have that dinner thing, remember?"
"right, whose house is it at this time?"
"i think it's at jin hyung's," he answered.
"oh good, i want to see how minae is doing," she muttered before her eyelids started drooping, the week's running around catching up to her. jungkook noticed and ran his thumb over the skin of her waist.
"have a nap, baby, i'll wake you up when we have to get ready."
she smiled gratefully and slipped into sleep to the sound of the tv and the feeling of his chest pressed against her back.
he honoured his words and woke her up a few hours before they had to leave, allowing her to get dress while he helped the kids, then they switched places and he got ready.
they left on time, which was a rare occasion, and reached seokjin's house within a few minutes, seeing as they didn't live too far from each other. they rang the doorbell and a lady opened the door, smiling kindly at them as she gestured for them to come in, "hi y/n, jungkook, how have you guys been?"
"we've been great, unnie, thanks. how about you?" she asked in return.
"great as well, and jungkook, i know you, jinnie is in the kitchen," minae informed him, "now go away."
jungkook rolled his eyes but went anyways as suhae and jeongsan walked in side by side and stood by their mother. he found jin in the kitchen as told, hovering above the stove as he finished the last dish for the dinner.
"hi hyung," he greeted, "anything you need me to do?"
the older man turned in surprise and grinned, "jungkookie, you're here, could you take the plates to the dining table?" he gestured towards the dishes lining the counter.
"alright sergeant," the younger replied out of habit.
jin chuckled, "not your sergeant anymore kook, i'm your captain."
"whatever, close enough," jungkook waved him off and took the dishes.
he still couldn't help but call seokjin sergeant even though he became the captain a few years ago after yoongi got a huge promotion to become the chief of police, which caused massive changes such as jungkook becoming the sergeant of the uniformed officers, y/n becoming the sergeant of detectives, and as mentioned, seokjin becoming their captain.
jimin and taehyung has become sergeants as well, hoseok becoming their captain as namjoon moved to being their lieutenant.
even though of the change, they still all kept in contact thanks to the system seokjin had set up, although some of them weren't able to attend on certain days, they still met up.
jiwoo, too, kept up with them, tagging along with hoseok most of the times while her husband looked after their kids.
jungkook couldn't help but smile as he placed the dishes on the table, gazing at the growing amount of guests that surrounded y/n and minae.
even through all the ups and downs they all had together, they never left each other's side.
he walked over to his wife and slid his arms around her waist, pulling her out from the crowd and connecting their lips gently. they pulled away from each other after awhile, and she glanced at him with a surprised yet loving smile, "what was that for?"
"just wanted get your attention so i can say i love you," he grinned.
she chuckled, "i love you too, kook."
