Zoe's POV:
Jake is sitting on a chair, while I'm on my bed reading. Dad is on the phone talking to Dr Golan's office because she isn't there.
"Can you pass on a message for me?" Dad says. "Can you tell Doctor Golan that if she hadn't encouraged this cockamamie trip then maybe my son and daughter wouldn't be moping around all day in a derelict house having a goddamn breakdown! Hello?" They must have hung up on him.
"Dad, we're not." Jake says. "We're fine."
"No, you're not. You're not fine, Jake, Zoe. Coming here was a terrible, terrible idea." Dad says, grabbing his jacket.
"Look, We're sorry we lied. We just wanted to-" Jake says.
"Just set your alarm for 8:00am. I wanna get to the beach early. The rest of the time we're stuck on this craphole island, we're all sticking together." Dad says, walking towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Jake asks.
"Downstairs for a drink." Dad says, pulling the door shut. I hear Jake sigh, and do something. But I'm at the part in my book where they go down the trapdoor, so I'm not paying attention to anything else.
"Zoe?" Jake says. I hum in acknowledgement, but don't look up. "I'm not going to get your full attention right now, am I?" He says, knowing what I'm like.
"No." I say. He chuckles.
"Okay, I'll speak to you tomorrow." He says. "Night."
"Night."
