Chapter 5

I'm pretty sure in the past I forgot to mention this is a human AU. So, there aren't any ghouls. Or unless you guys figured that out by now.

A couple days later...

Hide's P.O.V.

I was waiting on Kaneki, we had agreed to go to a restaurant. He was running a little late. Maybe because there was traffic or had a little trouble dropping Ichika off at a family member's house. That's what he said he was going to do. After a little bit, I decided to text him.

Hide: Hey, where are you?

It took he a little bit to text back.

Kaneki: traffic, I'll be there soon though. You can go ahead and get a table.

Hide: Alright.

I texted him before going inside and getting a table. I sat there for awhile before I saw some one familiar walk over. It was Kaneki.

"Hey, sorry I'm late. I had a little trouble getting back from dropping Ichika off at her uncles' house." He said as he sat down.

"It's okay. Is her uncle your brother?"

"No, ex wife's. But they stay close to me and Ichika. She as a uncle and a great uncle, they live together."

"Why?"

"They just keep each other company. Her uncle has a girlfriend, but she lives overseas. So, it's a long distance relationship. But they work it out, she comes here for holidays."

"Okay." We chatted for awhile before a waitress came and took our order. Then we ate as we talked a little more. Until he had to pull out his phone because some one had called. He started looking through his bag and was getting a little frustrated because it wasn't easy. He pulled out a sketch book before he finally got his phone. I got curious.

"Can I look?" I said referring to the sketch book. He looked up from his phone before nodding.

"Yeah, I don't mind." He said before I picked up the sketch book and opened it up before looking through it. It was drawings of birds, flowers, and other plants and animals. There was even a mouse.

"Did you draw these?" I asked.

"No, Ichika did. I carry that around for when she wants to draw. I forgot to leave it with her for tonight though. I guess you can say it's her hidden talent."

"These are really good. She could go to the art class we have with this."

"I know, but she doesn't like the class because they tell her what to draw and start at beginners level. She just gets frustrated."

"Do you draw?" I asked as I handed him the sketch book back.

"I do, not every often though." He said as he put the sketch book back in his shoulder bag.

"Who called you? I guess it wasn't one of Ichika's uncles other wise you would of called back."

"It was just Eto. I don't need to call her back right now because I know it would of been rude."

"Are they a friend of yours?"

"Yeah, she's a book writer too. We kinda of bounce ideas off each other."

"Alright." Then after we ate and payed for our meal, I was able to convince him to let me pay for it and it wasn't easy to do that. We just walked around a little. There was small shops with window displays and deem calming street lights. Then I walked him home. He had parked his car at his apartment complex because he could just walk to the restaurant from there. We got to the door and things got a little awkward.

"Good night, I guess I will see you later." I said.

"Yeah, and Hide."

"Yeah?" I said before he kissed my cheek, making me blush a shade of red.

"Thank you." He said after he pulled away from my cheek. I looked at him and he looked up at me. Then we started to lean in for a actual kiss, but our glasses hit each other. We pulled away before chuckling. He put his glasses on his head before we leaned in for a kiss. Our lips met before he slowly wrapped his arms around my neck. I hesitated before slowly wrapping my arms around his waist.
