"What do you mean, you and my mom are twins?" I asked in shock.

"We were born here on June 12, 1975 at 3:00AM exactly." She said.

"Mom never celebrated her birthday." I admitted.

That seemed to make Brenda sad.

"What happened between you two?" I asked.

"Your mom and I were best friends more than we were sisters. We were all we had growing up concidering that we had different dads." She said.

"Wait... How is that possible if you guys are twins?" I asked.

"Well. Biologically speaking, dogs can have a litter of six puppies. Three can have one dad while the other three has another. The same can happen with humans." She explained.

"So you're saying..."

"I'm saying that Magdalena has a different father than I do and no one knows who he is." She clarified.

"Did your mom have an affair?" I asked.

"No one knows... Our parents died when we were ten and we never found out. Although our mother found it to be a very touchy subject."

"But what happened to you two?"

"... Its hard to explain. Another story for another day. C'mon, let go grab something to eat. Im starving." She said, changing the subject.

We bought a few garments my size before we left for a café down the street. I tuned in to my surroundings when we stopped talking and realized that people were looking at us. More specifically me.

I felt like a spectical the way they stared at me when I made even the so slightest move.

"Have a nice day." said the worker not taking her eyes off of me as we exited the store.

I noticed Brenda give the employee a look that seemed to make her wither in her skin and hide inside of herself. We left the store with a trail of whispers and murmers in our wake.

"What was that all about?" I asked.

"What was what about?" She plays dumb.

When I notice, it becomes hard to ignore that everyone is following me with their eyes as well walk down the street. They shift their eyes to Brenda and suddenly look away in a rush.

"Everyone is staring." I insist.

"Its just because you're new and this is a small town. I told you that you would be popular." She said with a smile but never looks me in the eyes.

"C'mon. You pick where to eat."

I guess redirection means the end of my questions.

We ate and continued to talk for another hour before we went back home.

Home... It seems that I'm getting too comfortable with my surroundings. Can't say that I like that. Brenda told me that I was going to school the next day and that I would more than likely have to be sharing classes with Beionca. She told me that the school is a bit old fashioned do to the Principal who according to her, should have retired in 1931. I have to say that she's starting to grow on me a little bit. We got composition books, binders, and a shit load of mechanical pencils just for me.

I missed my school back home in Nevada, not that that would do me any good. I had a good thing going there though. My art teacher said I had a real future and that made me so happy to say the least. She knew I wanted to go to a school with an amazing art program and get a few creative degrees. I didn't have any problems in my school because I was respected. They knew I wasn't two faced or gossip worthy. Sure I didn't get along with every single person but there was nothing gerastic besides the occasional bullying here and there, but our principal couldn't stand that so it was a rare thing.

I continued to get ready for bed by brushing my teeth and ridding my face of all makeup content before shedding the pants and hopping into the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I couldn't see how people could sleep in pants, its so restricting.

Howls emitted from outside my bedroom window wwhich made me jump out of my skin. I rolled the sheets off of me before walking to the window. It was so dark outside that I could hardly see anything but with how loud the howl was, it made it sound like it was coming from right below my window.
Something tripped the motion sensors and light flooded the back yard and there stood five giant wolves staring and growling at my window.

"Brenda!" I called out.

I heard her feet slam against the wooden floor as she quickly made her way up to my room. She opened my door with a look of sorry edged on her slightly wrinkled features.

"What is it? What's wrong?" She asked in a hurry.

At that point Beionca decided to join the party but I didn't take my eyes off the window and the intense eyes of the wolf ahead of the pack that currently stared me down.

"What's wrong honey?" She asked gently.

"You might want to come and see this Brenda." I said.

She walked over to me and peered out the window and what she saw made her gasp. Beionca came up behind me and gazed over my shoulder. Her breath changed from calm to irratic in fear.

"What are they doing here mom?" Beionca asked.

"I'm not quite sure." she paused as if to think.

"Be, why don't you take Ashlie here to your room so I can call animal control? I want you girls safe."

Beionca grabbed my arm and steered me away from my window.

Personal space!!!!!!!!

I watched as Brenda made no move to call animal control but just stood there continuing to stare out the window to the beasts below.
I wanted nothing more than to go back to the window and stare at how dark and terrifyingly beautiful the wolves were. Bigger than any I have ever seen in my entire life which doesn't say much for a girl who spend most of her life around the off brand wolves. Coyot
ese.

These were real and far more intimidating than those flea bags.
