Festival: Obstacle Race

The next morning passed, and it was time for the first round of the festival.

Helga was the emcee for the events, as the four sages were somewhere on the field.

"Your first round of the festival is starting in two hours. Get ready, and prepare to race."

Everyone was in a rush to get ready, and Rai finally woke up.

It was clear the water was being used at the quickest time possible, and students began to get their breakfast, and made their rush to the arena. Tsuki no Mirae, Zen, and Concoction were all in the stands,  with all ten of them watching closely. The festival would take all week, according to Cornelia.

Umi and Rai were getting food, and watched everybody display their skills in the festival.

Helga then got close to the pipe while everyone was still standing in the arena. She was dressed in a black strapless dress and she had a gun.

"Attention, everyone. This is the first round of the Sports Festival. The obstacle race will start from under me, and will end at that gate. Estimated time is five hours to race through. The Three Sages will serve as obstacles to block your path. The top sixty will advance to the next round. Anything goes as long as nobody is bleeding or dead."

Everybody was prepared to begin racing, and Iru had began to walk closer to the starting line, being unnoticed due to his short height.

"Begin!"

Helga fires her bullet outside the arena, hitting a bird.

The students began to stampede under Helga's stage, entering a deep catacomb. Helga then used a broadcast spell to show the progress of the battle.

Aki has his sledgehammer in his hands, prepared to knock his opponents away.

The first obstacle came up shortly. Cornelia was using reversal magic to reverse nerve functions, making people go backwards instead of forward. Koru managed to dodge, and tossed a chain at her, and tossed her towards the crowd. Then, Marya turned transparent, and ran towards Koru.

Aki and Reito soon followed, and Rala countered the spell with a rewind spell.

After Cornelia was defeated, all of the remaining racers returned to running. Six large monsters were present, being fought off by Aki, Axle, and Reito, along with several students. Koru saw Ariel flying, and latched onto her.

Shi and Iru were still on their way to the next area, and saw the monsters. Shi used an ice spell, and puts a spike into his shoes, allowing him to run up the path. He ran over the racers with his ice, and then fired an icicle at Aki's monster, him running towards the next obstacle.

Koru and Ariel landed at the next obstacle: Niyo. The Sage would be by himself, using earth magic to try to capture with vines.

Koru began spinning his chains, allowing him to repel the vines.

The wall came down, and Ariel sees what could be nothing but Alise and Riki, who fell into a trap. They landed on top of Niyo, knocking him out. Koru stopped spinning his chains, and proceeded to run.

Aki and Iru caught up to everyone, and Shi returned to the ground.

After getting past Niyo, the next obstacle, who was Roku, was summoning obstacles and distorting the area.

Roku used strong wind magic to push everybody back, and Ariel transformed again. Koru latched onto her, and picked Aki and Axle out of the crowd. Immediately, she began flying, but ended up being used as a kite.

Koru latched a chain onto a vertical bar, and began pulling. His strength was not high, but the chain was able to stay onto the bar.

Axle loaded his gun with a tranquilizing bullet, and aimed it at Roku. The bullet barely missed, but grazed Roku's skin, just barely managing to knock him out.
