Chapter 10

Guess who's back!

"Hey man!" said Lance happily.

"Hey..."

"Why aren't you enjoying the water with us?"

Keith shrugged. "Dunno, just... Don't want to."

"Well, you want to come check out the pirate ship with me?" Lance asked hopefully.

"Yeah, why not."

They walked around the edge of the pool until they got to a stairs, which they climbed, past hot tubs and kids games until they eventually reached the pirate ship

"Oh man! They have cannons, look!" said Lance, pointing to the cannons on the side of the ship. "I wonder if they work?"

"Well they all have a wheel with a button on top of them so I'd say so," said Keith, running over to one. He tapped the button and a short spurt of water came out.

Keith grinned evily. "Oh, Pidgey!" he yelled down to Pidge.

"Huh? AHH!"

Keith sprayed water at her, turning the cannon to follow her as she tried to run away in the shallower water. She eventually ran into Shiro, knocking him into Hunk, who fell back, upside down in the water, kicking Allura in the face in the process.

"....Oops?" Keith shrugged.

Lance was pissing himself laughing.
"Keith, buddy, they're going to kill you for that!"

Lance was almost right. A minute or two later, Pidge, Shiro, Hunk and Allura ran onto the ship, each with a watergun in hand.

"Shit!" Keith yelled. He started running to the front of the ship, and up to the upper deck, with Lance following close behind.

"Keith, buddy, we're going to have to jump down into the pool!" said Lance, gesturing to the main pool below them.

"Lance are you serious?!! No way!" Keith protested.

Pidge, Shiro, Hunk and Allura were getting closer.

"Why not?? It's our only option!!"

"Lance!" Keith exclaimed, "I. CAN'T. SWIM!"

"ARE YOU SHITTING ME."

"No! Jesus Christ!"

"Keith, you're going to have to trust me here!" said Lance.

"Wait, what are you doing?!" Lance swiftly and easily picked Keith up, took and step back, and jumped.

Keith screamed as they hit the water. He floated out of Lance's grasp, swallowing the water as he did. His vision was blurry and the chlorine stung his eyes, but he could just make out Lance swimming towards him.

Lance grabbed Keith around the waist and swam up to the surface.

Keith coughed and gasped for air.

"Are you okay?" asked Lance, panting.

Keith nodded, still coughing.

"Come on, let's go relax. I think the guys are done now," said Lance pointing to the rest of the group making their way down from the ship leisurely.

Lance led Keith to a table and benches.

"Wait here, I'm going to find a vending machine," he said.

Keith let out a sigh of relief as Lance walked out of sight.

"Sooooo," said a voice behind him, making him jump off of the bench. It was Pidge. "I saw him lift you," she said, with a smug little smile

"Yeah? What's your point?" asked Keith, trying to maintain his nonchalant attitude.

"You know damn well what my point is, Kogane..." said Pidge, crossing get arms.

"Fuck offfffffffff," Keith whined, pushing her shoulder.

"All right, all right. But you can't blame me for knowing what goes on in your head."

"Who do I blame for that?"

"Yourself. I know too much about you," Pidge laughed, strolling away.

Keith grumbled. Pidge had a point. Lance did lift him. He must be so strong.... And... Oh god, what the hell? Why was Keith thinking like this? About Lance? He's so stupid. And mean. And cocky. No...Why would Keith think those things. Lance...  He's adorable... And kind... And fun.... He's....

Breathtaking.

"Hey, I'm back."

Keith nearly jumped out of his skin. There he was. He still had water droplets on him from the pool. His hair was drying. It was so curly... God, Keith just wanted to run his hands through that hair, and he'd spend the rest of his life happy.

"Oreos or Snickers?"

"Snickers," said Keith, taking the chocolate from Lance, being careful to avoid eye contact.

"So...." Lance began, opening the Oreos. "You can't swim, huh?"

"...No..."

"Want me to teach you?"

No, Keith thought, because then I won't be able to keep calm and I'll end up doing something stupid like kissing your stupid face.

"Uhh... I don't know."

"Come on, Keith," said Lance, "it's really not that hard. God, you're so smart you'll end up teaching me!"

Keith looked at Lance. His hair. So messy. But that cute messy. Post-shower messy. I-want-to-kiss-you-and-run-my-hands-through-your-hair messy.

His eyes. Keith could get lost in them. They were like two tiny oceans, no, whirlpools. They suck you in. You get trapped in them, and everything else disappears. They suited Lance perfectly. Blue really was his colour.

His face, his cheeks, his nose. All perfectly dotted with tiny freckles, the way a galaxy is dotted with stars. Those freckles drove Keith crazy.

Everything about Lance drove Keith crazy.

And Lance was so blissfully unaware of it all.

"Alright."

I'm so sorry about that hiatus. I'm not even going to bother giving an excuse, I just want you all to know I'm sincerely sorry that I haven't updated in so long!!!
But, I have some big plans for this story, so get ready! This year is going to be a busy year for me, but I'm going to use writing this as a  de-stresser.
I'm not going to set days to update (because we all know I never stick to it), but expect frequent updates!
