"Son, Elizabeth will be coming to the castle to stay for awhile. I believe it is time you two started to spend more time together; she is your fiance after all." As everyone was sitting at the dining room table, Adrian's mother spoke. At first, Sean thought she was talking to Adrian and he tensed upon the word 'fiance' but he quickly noticed that she was talking to Julian who had stopped eating and slowly looked up to stare at his mother.
"Mother, I have already told you I would prefer it if I could wed another. Elizabeth is a horrible person and I do not believe she would ever be fit to rule the kingdom with me." His voice was calm, as it always seemed to be, but his eyes told a differemt story of someone who clearly did not approve of what had been said.
"That is just nonsense, Julian. Elizabeth is a lovely girl and you two have been engaged since childhood. You grew up together and you were bestfriends. Why would you say that about her?" His mother sighed as she put her fork down, delicately dabbing her mouth before putting the napkin in her lap.
"We were best friends until she started acting like she controls me. She even had the nerve to go as far as to hurt Zafie as the she were her pet to punish and you know how I feel about that." Julian's voice tensed when he mentioned Zafie, his neko, and his grip tightened on his silverware. Sean had never taken Julian to be the possessive type, he always thought that was Adrian but it seemed the elder just hid it better.
"I have mever witnessed such things from her and neither has your father. Besides, Zafie is just a neko and if Elizabeth felt she needed to be punished then perhaps she did."
"Zafie did nothing wrong, she was merely having a conversation with me. Even if she had done something wrong, it is my job to punish her. Not hers, not even if we do get married. She is my pet and you know I do not share her well." Sean stared at Julian in surprise as his voice became more tense. Did he like his pet more than he should? As the eldest, that would most definitely pose a problem for him as he was the one who would be getting engaged and ruling the kingdom.
"You let Sera choose when her fiance was abusive towards her." He added and his mother gave a defeated sigh.
"I will not call off the engagement yet, Julian. This marriage is supposed to bring peace to the two kingdoms. If she messes up this time...come speak to me about it before she leaves and we shall discuss it. If necessary, I will wed you to one of his other daughters but I need to ensure the reasoning is fair and that her father will approve." The mother sighed deeply, it was clear she had not wanted to have this conversation. However, the rest of the dinner went quietly, no other discussion happening.

"So when is she coming?" Adrian asked Julian as he walked beside his brother, holding a curled up, cat-Sean in his arms. The male merely sighed, running a hand through his hair.
"Tonight. And Zafie is not safe with her here. She can't stay in my room, Adrian." He looked at his brother hopefully and Adrian gave a soft sigh but nodded nonetheless, already knowing what his brother was asking before he even said the words.

"She can stay with me. But the bed is mine and Sean's. Send her some covers and pillows for a palate." He stated blatantly. Julian looked at his brother in amusement and nodded.

"Thanks." He patted his brother on the shoulder before disappearing to his room. Adrian rolled his eyes, walking into his room and gently placing his sleeping kitten on the bed. He glanced at the cage he had in the corner of his room, the one Sean had never used. It had soft bedding inside of it and would have been a comfortable choice for a pet compared to the floor. He walked over, taking the top of so it was less of a cage, sitting it on a shelf above. When he heard a knock on the door he walked over and opened it, motioning for Zafie to come in. It was clear the neko was rather nervous to not be in Julian's presence but she quickly stepped inside to let him shut the door.

"You can sleep over there. The bedding is soft and will probably be better than the floor." Adrian motioned her over to the cage and she nodded, walking over and setting the bedding down before laying two covers to soften it more, placing a third on top for her to use as a cover when ready. She also placed two pillows down and Adrian watched in amusement. His brother had most definitely sent her over prepared so she was comfortable.
"You look nervous." He commented as she sat down without a word.
