The Mayfliers were dangerously close to extinction. About a thousand Mayfliers remained, but their numbers were growing rapidly short. Most of the world was consumed by the darkness. Plants turned purple and black, the skies turned purple and green with a hint of yellow. The world was no longer safe.
Animals hid, ran, and fought, but they feared the dark creatures too much to fight alongside the Mayfliers in the war. Finally, there was hope. A Mayflier delivered news that the dark leader was hidden inside an extinct volcano. Then, the second Mayflier came up with an idea. Many Mayfliers would head to the volcano, and kill as many Shadrons and Direwolves as possible. The battle successfully served as a distraction, and the third Mayflier revealed himself outside the volcano. The alpha, second Mayflier, and others brought two anklets, and a crystal necklace. The anklets were enchanted to seal the third Mayflier's power, and the necklace was enchanted to seal his soul, his conscience.
The third Mayflier fell into their trap. Sealing the third Mayflier and his power in the artifacts took a lot of power from the Mayfliers that helped to seal him. Their power came with a price. Mayfliers can only live up to a hundred years, but if they use too much power, their lifespan becomes shortened.
After they successfully sealed the dark leader, the few remaining Mayfliers hid the anklets and the necklace in separate locations, so they could never be found.
Eight hundred years later, and it was believed that the Mayfliers had gone extinct, however there's supposedly one Mayflier left. She had given birth to a baby Mayfly, whom she named Aster. The mother had to keep Aster protected and then stay hidden, for they were unaware of what other dangerous creatures might be lurking around the world, or if the direwolves still exist.
