"So that's what they look like," Star mumbled. She remembered her mother talking about the history between Mayfliers and Shadrons.
"You've heard of them before?" Zach asked, eager to know what she's learned about the past. Star nodded, and then picked up a rose to tie onto her flower crown.
"Mother told me the story of the Mayfliers, how the prince started a war and the Shadrons killed all of the Mayfliers with the help of Shadow Direwolves," she continued to pick up more roses to tie on until Zachery sighed. She felt like she might've said something that upset him, she lifted her paw to lightly push him as a playful gesture. "Is something wrong?" Zachery seemed very unsettled.
"No, everything's good. You should get some sleep, today was an awful day." Star stopped tying the roses to her flower crown and set it down on the cold ground. It really was an awful day, but the horrors of what she experienced was just going to keep her up, she didn't feel like sleeping.
"I can't, and what about you?" Zachery shook his head and stood back up. He picked up the flower crown with his mouth and moved it to the back of the den.
"You can work on that tomorrow. Losing your mum is hard, but don't let it get to you and prevent you from resting." Star didn't say anything back to him and instead curled up into a ball and closed her eyes. Without opening them, she wanted to ask Zachery a question.
"Can you stay with me? You have no where to go, and you can live with me," she was afraid he'd say no, but Zachery was more than happy she wanted him to stay.
"Yes, of course, no one likes to be alone." He curled up next to her, thankful to have met someone so kind and generous. Star quickly began to fall asleep, but Zach stayed up a little longer to be sure she stayed asleep. "I promise, I'll try and protect you," he whispered, and soon he began to drift off to sleep.
