Akiva's pov.

Dori, quicker than I thought possible for dwarves, was off to retrieve what appeared to be a stash of food that was set aside. We all walked to the entrance of the large hobbit hole, and Bilbo went to open the door. The dwarves crowded behind him a few paces back, and I behind them, though it mattered not as I could see over all of their heads except for Gandalf who stood to the side of the group. The moment the door opened, a proud voice spoke up. "Gandalf, I thought you said this place would be easy to find. I lost my way... twice." The dwarf who stepped through bilbo's door looked, to myself at least, more respectable than the others, as though he commanded to be in attention of those around him.
I didn't like it, it was something I myself knew how to do, and I didn't like others who held the same power. I found that often they were stubborn, and full of themselves, and reckless to say the least.

"I wouldn't have found it at all if it weren't for the mark on the door." He spoke again, and I had to hold back a chuckle as Bilbo voiced his displeasure. "There is No Mark on that door, it was painted less than a week ago" he began to shout at the end. "There is a mark on that door, I put it there myself" Gandalf admitted.

Before Bilbo could say another word I spoke up. "Why is it you who is so displeased Bilbo, we both know I will be the one to fix it. You hate painting" I let out with a laugh. He looked grumpier than ever but before more could be said Gandalf spoke up again, "allow me to introduce you to the leader of our company, This is Thorin Oakenshield." He said addressing Bilbo more than myself, which I was fine with. Kili, who stood near the back as he was one of the taller dwarves, despite his youth, which I based off of the length of dwarves' beards as I knew they were their pride, turned and spoke quietly, as to not interrupt the conversation Thorin and Bilbo were currently having. "I cannot help but notice, you yourself look rather out of place here lass, why is it that you have chose to stay here of all places?" I didn't quite know how to answer that without explaining my whole life. "I don't know, it is nice to have such simplicity." He seemed satisfied with my response and turned back to the others. "Akiva, I would like you to meet the leader of our company as well, Thorin is a great ally even for you."
MAs soon as the words left Gandalf's mouth, I had mine open with a question. "As is king under the mountain? That Thorin?" All of the men looked at me as though I had grown two heads, but it was obvious that Thorin was not happy to have someone else here who he didn't know. "Who are you?" He all but growled. "Answer my question and I will answer yours." I replied ready for his anger. "Yes" he replied. "I am that Thorin." Gandalf beet me to replying.

"This is Miss Farren. Her home land is not all that far from your own."

Thorin glared at me some more , while I glared daggers at Gandalf, but finally seemed to move on.
All the men made their way into the dinning room, and Thorin ate a bit. I kept out, it was clear in my mind that he had no interest in me.

I sat in my armchair in the living room and listened to their discussion, sometimes they would break out with argument, particularly when Balin made a comment about exactly what kind of odds they were up against with so few warriors. They were just handing Bilbo the contract to join them when I had to intervene. As it turned out though, I was a bit to slow and only managed to catch Bilbo by the scruff of his shirt when he fainted. "Well that went well" I said, fighting hard to bite back a growl.

-------------------------------------------------------
Fun fact: most dwarves averaged at 4 feet tall, though it was likely that Thorin was between 4'5 to 4'8ft. Gandalf's actor stood at 5'11. My character stands about 5'6 (this is my actual height) and there for splits the difference. (Hobbits were about 2'5 -3ft.)
