After the event ay diretso kami sa bahay. Nagkaroon lang kami ng maliit na salo salo, as it is not appropriate for us to have a grand celebration. I didn't expect that the supposed to be one of the happiest day of my life will be like this.
I should be happy, nandito na si Brian. Nakakausap ko na. Marc was right, nandito si Brian sa graduation ko. But the person who I wanted the most to be here is no longer with us. Happiness and sadness were like a conjoined twins. They're always together.
I'm just sitting by the poolside while my feet is dipped in the water, looking up at the dark sky.
I am now an orphan. No parents. My mother died when I was two, while giving birth to my supposed to be younger sister. Alam na nila ni Dad noon na possible na mangyari yon dahil may heart problems ang mommy ko. They just hoped na may isang mabuhay sa kanila. But sadly, none of them survived.
They said that my mother's case is hereditary. I have no signs of heart problem, but it's still in our genes. It can be pass to my offsprings. And that's what I'm afraid of.
Maybe I am really born to be like this. Laging naiiwanan?
Mahina na lang akong natawa sa naisip ko at napailing. Humugot ako ng buntong hininga at tatayo na sana nang may umupo sa tabi ko.
"Congratulations."
"Hmm... Thanks Brian." nakangiti kong sabi at tinanggap ang wine glass na iniaabot niya bago namin iyon pinagpingki at bahagyang sinimsim.
"Kamusta?"
Mahina akong natawa sa tanong niya at inilapag ang wine sa tabi ko.
"I think I'm fine. I'll be alright I guess. And I'm happy, na nandito ka na ulit. Na miss kita. Ikaw, kamusta ka?"
"I'm sorry for not talking with you these past four years. And not showing up on your début. I know na nagalit ka sa akin, but believe me. I did miss you every single day." seryoso niyang sabi na nakatingin sa akin.
"Hmm." sabi kong tumango lang at bahagyang ngumiti.
"Kamusta ka nung mga panahon na wala ako dito?"
"At first, hindi okay. Ayaw mo akong kausapin eh." natatawa kong sabi. "But then, I just followed what you told me before you went to your Dad. I just let me, be me." nakatingin sa pool na sabi ko sa kanya.
"Boyfriends?" naibalik ko ang tingin ko sa kanya at bahagyang ngumiti.
"Hmm. I've dated a lot. You know, like when we're in highschool. Jorge and I got back together, but it didn't work. Well, it almost did. But we're really not just meant to be."
"I see. Still into dancing?" tanong niya ulit.
"Yeah. I was the lead dancer in our club. How 'bout you? Any boyfriends?" nakangisi kong tanong sa kanya. Mahina naman siyang natawa at napailing na tumingala sa langit.
Well, looking at Brian now. He changed a lot. Still have his very beautiful face. Lalaking lalaki ang itsura niya pati na rin ang boses niya. You won't think na pink talaga ang dugo niya. Kahit sa kilos niya. He's no longer the Brian that I used to be with before.
"I never had boyfriends." sabi niyang nakatingin lang sa langit. He then shifted his eyes on me. "But I'm in love with someone."
Napangiti ako sa sinabi niya kaya hindi ko naiwasang mas lumapit sa kanya.
"Really?! Who's he?" excited kong tanong na napahawak pa sa braso niya. Napatingin naman siya sa mga kamay kong nakahawak sa braso niya.
"You're not wearing the bracelet that I gave you?" salubong ang kilay na tanong niya sa akin.
