"The top 42 from this qualifying round will move on! But for those who placed lower, don't worry! We've got another way for you to show your stuff!" I was very pleased that I had gotten second place. First would've been nice, but it places a big target on your back for next proceeding events. At least I have proven that I can do more than most. "And now the main selection really begins! The press corp's going to be jumping out of their seats, so give it all you got!" Midnight announces with exhilaration. The holographic screen behind her switches from the race's rankings to a buzz, deciding the next round. "Now, on to the second event! I already know what it is, of course. Dying in suspense?!" She edged us. "Next up is...."
The screen showed in large letters 'Calvary Battle'. "This!" She gestured to the large screen.
I was extremely confused. What did it mean? Some of the students around me looked a bit nervous, which wasn't helping me. Instinctively, I bit at my inner cheek. It might be a team thing, which I'd rather not partake in.
"Each if you have been assigned a point value based on your ranking in the last event!" Oh. I don't like this. Others piped up and questioned if it was going to be like the entrance exam and such. Midnight cracked her small whip and told them to shut up since she'll explain it. The hero told everyone that the point values start at five and go up by such, the last person's value would be five and the next, ten. However, "Our first place participant is worth: ten million points!"
I whip my head to face Midoriya's direction. The poor boy's eyes were as wide as dinner plates. As I had, everyone stared at the kid with a strategic gaze.
"After taking first place in the qualifiers, Midoriya Izuku has got ten million points!" Midnight reannounced to crowds for more tension and competition between the students. Midoriya was covered in nervous sweat under the pointed stares of his peers, I couldn't blame him.
"You can take him out no problem. Look at how shaky he is, so easy to take from. He's just like those rejects, nothing but filled with hopeless dreams. He doesn't have any real power like you and me."
"Ow," I muttered. I had bit my cheek a little too hard and pierced it. Luckily, it wasn't bleeding excessively and was only small. I focused on the minor pain in my mouth for a second to keep me grounded to the world around me instead of my mother's voice. Her obsession with winning could always reach my head, despite being miles and miles away.

Midnight explained how the Calvary Battle works: teams versus teams to gain more points. Each team had points dictated by the members and their rankings. You gain points by stealing other teams' headbands. "You've got 15 minutes! Time to form your teams!"
Immediately, I was swarmed by classmates and those from other classes, each asking me to be a part of their team. With my quirk, it was obvious that I would do extremely well and could get any points within range. Plus, I already had a great number of points for just coming second in the last event.
I already had a plan, though. "Please excuse me, I am not wanting to form a team with you," I say to the cluster of peers. Some kept trying to persuade me as I made my way out into the open. I ignored them and locked my eyes on an individual. They didn't notice me until I got close to them, but when they did, they were extremely surprised.
"I'd like to form a team with you."
"Wa-wa-Wada?!" Stuttered the ten million point boy, absolute surprise on his face. "Y-you want to join?"
I nodded. "I want to win, so I'm going to start in first place and end there."
Getting over his initial shock, he started to mumble, looking down at the ground as if writing equations in the dirt. Uraraka, who I had not noticed until now commented on how weird his muttering was. I assume she would be apart of this team, and maybe that other girl that I don't recognize. The female was standing as if she was included in the group, so I think she is. I do question all the gadgets that she's covered in.
