I was making my daily round to visit some children and making sure they were still doing okay as my little fairy friend, Baby Tooth was flying with me. Baby Tooth works for the Guardian of Memories, Toothina, or as some know her as the Tooth Fairy. While I was making my round, I feel a light tug on my hair. I looked over at Baby Tooth who was pointing to the sky. The Northern lights were waving freely in the air which means North, or also known as Santa, needed our help with something important. I quickly flew with Baby Tooth towards the North Pole as the wind blew through my silver hair.
"My fellow guardians, it is our job to watch over the children of the world and keep them safe. To bring wonder, light, hope, and dreams. And so I have called us all here for on reason, and one reason only. The children are in danger. An enemy we have kept at bay for centuries has finally decided to strike back. We alone can stop him."
I got flew into the workshop and landed in the main room. I saw Bunnymund (Easter Bunny) and North come down in the elevator and Tooth fly in as she told her little fairy workers where to collect the teeth. "Alina!" She said and happily tackled me in a hug. I giggled and hugged her back. "Hi Tooth! It's been so long! I'm sorry I haven't been visiting." I said as we pulled away. "No worries Alina. I know that you can be a bit busy." She said and smiled sweetly. Her little fairies flew back as she told them where to go and completely ignored me as I shook my head with a smile. "Cookies? Eggnog? Anyone?" North asked as he got off the elevator. Sandy (Sandman) flew in with a golden sandy airplane then hopped out as it disappeared.
"Sandy, thank you for coming." North said as Sandy floated down to the floor. Sandy made images above his head to tell North he was a bit busy. "I know, I know. But I obviously wouldn't have called you all here unless it was serious." North said as Tooth softly shushed her fairies. I leaned against the wall with my arms crossed as I listened. "The Boogeyman was here! At the Pole!" North said as my eyes widen as me and Baby Tooth shared a look. Tooth gasped softly as she glanced at Sandy. "Pitch? Pitch Black? Here?" She asked as her little fairies talked. "Yes. There was black sand covering the Globe." North said and made hand gestures. "What do you mean, black sand?" I asked a little confused. "And then a shadow." North continued, ignoring my question which I didn't mind.
"Hold on, hold on. I thought you said you saw Pitch." Bunny said as he hopped and stood beside North, painting an egg for Easter. "Well, not exactly." North said and rubbed the back of his head with a small smile. "'Not exactly'? Can you believe this guy?" Bunny asked and looked at Sandy while pointing the end of his paintbrush at North. Sandy shrugged, making a question mark above his head. "Yeah, you said it Sandy." Bunny said and went back to painting his egg. "Look, he's up to something very bad. I feel it...in my belly." North said and put his hands on his stomach as the little fairies looked at his belly in confusion. "Hang on, hang on. You mean to say you summoned me here three days before Easter because of your belly? Mate, if I did this to you three days before Christmas-" "Please, Bunny. Easter is not Christmas." North said interrupting Bunny as he took the egg he was working on.
A yeti walked over to us with a tray of glasses with eggnog in them. Sandy and I happily took a glass and watched North and Bunny start fighting about whether Easter or Christmas is the most important holiday. Sandy watched as he held his drink only to catch an elf drinking from it. He moved his cup away from the elf causing the elf to fall off the railing he was on and fell onto the floor. "That wasn't very nice Sandypants. Haven't you been taught to share?" I joked with a soft giggle. He rolled his eyes with a smile and looked up. Manny was shining brightly in the workshop, wanting everyone's attention. Sandy dropped his cup and tried to get everyone's attention but North and Bunny were still arguing while Tooth was telling her fairies where to go get teeth.
Me and Baby Tooth shook our heads as Sandy failed to get everyone's attention. Tooth got in the middle of Bunny and North as the stopped for a brief moment. "Tooth, can't you see we're trying to argue?" North asked as Bunny nodded. "Sorry. Not all of us get to work one night a year. Am I right, guys?" Tooth asked as she looked at Sandy and I. I held my cup up, agreeing with her as Sandy made an arrow above his head, pointing to Manny. She then got another feeling and continued telling her fairies where to collect teeth, as Bunny made Sandy's arrow disappear while he argued with North again. I looked at the elf who was now licking Sandy's cup clean and cleared my throat, signaling Sandy. He turned and looked at me as I pointed to the elf with a small smile, knowing that if I tried getting their attention I would fail too.
Sandy flew and landed beside the elf as the elf stopped licking the cup with his tongue still in the cup. Sandy picked the elf up by the hat and violently shook the elf, making his hat jiggle with the little bell. He finally got everyone's attention as they looked at him. He dropped the dizzy elf then pointed to a moon shape above his head as we both pointed at Manny. "Ah! Man in Moon! Guys, why didn't you say something?" North asked as he looked back at us. Sandy made an angry face as sand blew from his ears like smoke. "I would've but with them fighting, you can't get anything through to them." I said as Sandy and Baby Tooth nodded with some squeaks as North was facing Manny again. "It's been a long time, old friend. What is big news?" North asked as Manny shown brighter.
His ray of light shown on the floor on the 'G'. A figure started to appear as we circled the 'G' on the floor. The shadow looked more familiar as it fully formed. "It is Pitch." Bunny said with his eyes widen then looked at North. North looked back at Bunny and patted his stomach then took a few steps forward. "Manny, what must we do?" North asked as we looked up. Manny decreased his ray of light so that it was only on the 'G'. The 'G' glowed as the floor opened up with a crystal rising up with his light following it. "Uh, guys, you know what this means?" Tooth asked as she hovered beside me. "He's choosing a new guardian." I said with my arms crossed and a smile. "What? Why?" Bunny asked, not sounding happy. "Must be big deal. Manny thinks we need help." North said as I nodded.
"Since when do we need help?" Bunny asked and smiled like this was a joke. "I wonder who it's gonna be!" Tooth said excitedly. Sandy made a four leaf clover above his head for his guess. "Maybe the Leprechaun?" I asked for him as he nodded. "Please not the Groundhog, please not the Groundhog." Bunny pleaded as the figure started to form. It formed into the winter spirit himself. "Jack Frost." North said as Baby Tooth and the other fairies became love struck. "Uh, I take it back. The Groundhog's fine." Bunny said as I stared at him a bit with a smile. I always kinda liked Jack for some reason. I felt Tooth nudge me as I snapped out of it with a deep pink appearing on my cheeks. "Well, as long as he helps to protect the children. Right?" I asked as Tooth and Baby Tooth laughed softly at me.
"Jack Frost?! He doesn't care about children! All he does is freeze water pipes and mess with my egg hunts! All right?! He's an irresponsible, selfish-" "Guardian." North said, interrupting Bunny's rant while looking at the Jack Frost figure with interest as he stroked his beard. "Jack Frost is many things, but he is not a guardian." Bunny said, crossing his arms. "Alright since you like him so much, you get to go get him." North said with a smirk as Bunny looked at him like he grew three heads. "What? Are you serious? No way." Bunny said and shook his head. "Would it help if me and a few yetis went with you?" I asked and smiled playfully at him. "Actually yes." Bunny said and smiled back at me. "Alright Hopper. Let's get to it." I said and walked over to him. "Have fun LinyBug." Bunny said with a smirk as he thumped his foot on the ground, making the floor beneath me disappear. "Oh no." I said and fell with a scream that became a happy scream as I smiled while sliding through his tunnel, him following close behind.
