My eyes open slowly, and I enter my bathroom, I lift my T-shirt and find a bruise on the left side of my torso.

"Damn it..." I mumble to myself. I take the shirt off and the rest of my clothing and hop into the shower. After I finish, I brush my teeth dress up and head out. I would say bye to my father, but he's already at work. I plug in my earbuds, after talking to Jaliyah last night, then dreaming about her, it gets me in my feelings. I play "yeah right" by Joji and make my way to school.

"Ima fuck up my life, Ima fuck up my life. We gon' party all night, she don't care if I die. Yeah right, yeah right." Joji sings. I bump my head to the song as I approach the school.

"Hey Jarahn!" Jaliyah says from the entrance of the school. I take my earbuds out and wave back at her. The mood fades away and I feel happy, I smile back at her and turn off my phone. We walk into the school and continue our day. The day went by fast and I was home, finishing homework and listening to the police radios, home invasions, shoot outs, and store robberies. All those things were mentioned and taken care of. Police seemed fast during the day, but I guess you can say that units get tired, switch shifts, and the newcomers are on. Which is my role, beat them there and make their job easy, they know someone is taking care of something before they're there. But they don't know who it is or why. But I plan on making it public soon. I sleep my time off and head out, while looking around I find the same gang that I saw yesterday. I stretch and then drop in front of them.

"What are you guys doing here. Again?" I asked, I clenched my fist tight, preparing to knock them all down.

"Looking for you." Phil said. I look at his casted arm I snapped and then his right hand, I then see the pistol he's holding in his hand. Before I can do anything, before I can blink, before my heart can beat, a bullet enters my right shoulder.

"AGH!" I wince in pain. I quickly perform a backflip kick to Phil's chin, Phil falls back and remains unconscious. I duck the other member's punch and strike his stomach, as the air leaves his lungs, I kick his knee socket in and flip him on to Phil. I then jump into the air and perform a 360 kick and use the same foot to knock out two members, I grab the member to my left and knee his stomach, headbutt his nose and uppercut him, he drops immediately and lands hard on his back. I go towards the last guy and start to beat his face in, right jab, left jab, right cross, left hook. I then jump into the air and force my body to turn around, I use the force of the turn and momentum to drive into my foot, my foot strikes his face hard, and his jaw breaks. Right after I struck him with the kick, instead of landing on my feet I land hard on my chest and my face lands on the ground.

'So, this is it? Always feared of dying while doing this. But who know that it'd be so soon...'? I thought. I close my eyes slowly and I pass out due to blood loss.

-An hour or so later...-

I open my eyes slowly and breathe quietly. I look around and find myself in a hospital bed, I quickly feel my face and feel the spandex of my mask. I quickly tried to get up, but the machine went off, I quickly lie back down due to the pain in my right shoulder. I look at the machine, it was reading my vitals.

"Oh no, oh no." Jaden repeated, he rushed downstairs and found me lying there. "Were you trying to get up?" Jaden asked.

"Where am I?" I asked.

"You're in my basement, this is where I practice my work, usually with a dummy. I saw you and-"

"How did you know I was there?"

"I heard a gunshot. I rushed as fast as I can and found you and gang members around you, out cold." Jaden explains.

"Do you know what I look like?" I asked.

"Well, studying from your vitals and your blood, you're pretty young, but I wanted to leave that decision to you." Jaden says. I nod.

"I respect that." I then take off my mask and show him my face. "My name is Jarahn, and I'm 13." I say. Jaden's eyes widened, and his mouth dropped.

"You're 13, and you're doing all of this? You're the most stupid, dangerous, teenager I've ever met." Jaden yelled.

"Thanks." I say. I look down at my mask. "This wound his making me want to hurt those people even more."

"It should make you want to quit. This place is dangerous, and you shouldn't be doing this out there alone." Jaden says

"Man, you don't even know me. You're just a doctor." I say.

"A doctor in training, I'm 21."

"I don't care. I'm the only one who can save this city, I'm the only one who is gonna do something about it. I have to do this, no matter what happens to me."

"So, I can't persuade you to stop?" Jaden asked.

"No. Not now, not ever."

"Then consider me your doctor. I'm gonna be taking care of your injuries and wounds for now on." Jaden says. I use my ab strength to sit up and I ignore the pain in my arm and look at him.

"No. It should just be me, solo. No one to slow me down." I say.

"Are you fast enough to dodge a bullet?" Jaden asked.

"Sort of. I have to predict it before it happens so I'm out of the way before he pulls the trigger." I explain.

"Which means, he caught you off guard when he shot you?" Jaden asked.

"Yes...what are you getting at?" I ask.

"The gang members aren't gonna give you a heads up when they shoot you. And they're just gonna carry bigger and badder weapons. Listen, if you don't want to be friends, that's cool. But at least let me help you. You can't guard and help this city if you're dead." Jaden ranted.

I let out a huge sigh. "Fine Jaden. Welcome to the team. Team pulse." I say in sarcasm.

"I have a friend that can help, is it that alright?" Jaden asked.

"Sure." I say with annoyance.

"She's a genius. She can make really nice stuff. I'll tell her about you, see if she can make you a new suit."

"Why would she want to make me a suit? And why do you want her help?" I ask.

"Because, she does this stuff for fun. She loves it, and she'll be more excited that there's a kid fighting crime." He says.

"How old is she?" I ask,

"She just turned 22, we went to the same high school and we stayed in touch." He explained. I nodded, and I didn't think it was a bad idea. "But I have some words you're not gonna want to hear." Jaden says.

"What?" I ask.

"Well, since you have bullet wound in your arm, and a hole in your suit. You're gonna have to take a break for the rest of the month."

"Wait...what?" I ask.

"You should be lucky, due to your diet and nutrition, you'll heal in half a month. And you need a new suit. Trust me on this." Jaden says. I look at him and I trust him, he saved my life and now he's gonna provide me with things I need to help this place.

"Okay Jaden. I'll lay back while my city falls apart." I say.

"Thank you for understanding. Just think of it as a way of recovering but coming back stronger." Jaden says, he goes into his mini fridge and hands me a coke. "Now, what details would you like on your new suit, so I can let her know."

I thought long and hard before speaking and then I went into detail. He nodded while typing everything down in his memo application on his phone. While explaining I started to think about the change that's gonna happen, now that I have partners, will this make this easier or harder? Or will I regret this decision? For now, seems like I won't get that answer.
