SEVENTEEN YEARS AGO...
"Remember, be alert and aware of your surroundings while inside the premises, and perform as we have trained you." Reginald Hargreeves spoke as the seven children listened intently.
The group was situated on top of the roof of a nearby office building as news was heard that robbers were taking hostages inside the bank next door.
"We won't disappoint you, Father." The tallest of the group, Luther, smiled.
Hargreeves nodded and with a wave of his hand, sent the children off as they grabbed onto Five's small frame to teleport into the bank.
"Jo, you and Diego take the four near the clerk station, the rest of us help with the hostages," Luther instructed once they had entered the bank behind a column.
"See if you can keep up, Diego." The ginger-haired girl smirked as the groups went their separate ways.
"Could say the same for you, Hothead." He shot back taking two knives from his belt and whipping them into one of the men's chests with ease. Jo laughed as she snapped her fingers and a flame appeared in her palm and shot it towards a robber coming straight at her.
"Nice shot!" Klaus exclaimed as he basically just ran around, bored out of his mind.
"Be careful!" Jo shouted as a man ran towards Klaus before Diego slashed his leg.
"Hey, stop stealing all of my kills!" The girl yelled throwing another fireball at a man that was getting too close to Allison, who was whispering to a differing robber.
"Thanks, J!" She smiled running towards Luther after the man had fallen.
The two children ran over to the rest of the group as Five started mocking one of the last men in the bank, who now held a stapler in his hand.
"Do I really have to do this?" The smallest of the kids asked once all of the men were on the ground.
"Come on Ben, there are more guys in the vault," Luther said matter-of-factly.
"It's all right Ben, we're almost done," Jo said offering her friend a small smile.
Ben smiled back, but it was soon replaced with a frown.
"I didn't sign up for this," He mumbled, stepping into the vault room.
Jo escorted the hostages outside while Ben killed the rest of the men. She walked over and put an arm around his bloodied shoulder as he said, "Can we go home now?" She nodded giggling.
The seven kids rushed out of the bank as they were met with multiple news cameras and policemen aiming their guns at the door.
"I could get used to this," Diego stated posing for the camera in front of him. Jo rolled her eyes from behind her mask and punched his arm, causing him to yelp and Five to laugh at his brother.
Jo spotted Hargreeves and her adoptive mother, Madame Ainsley walk through the crowd and talk to reporters as they snapped pictures.
Jo smiled at the sight of her mother and stepped forward as she gestured towards her.
"My daughter, Number Zero, will fight alongside Sir Reginald's children to make our city safe and keep it safe from the everyday evils we may encounter." Hargreeves gave Jo a fake smile and faced the cameras.
"I give you, The Umbrella Academy!"
PRESENT DAY...
"Moments ago, police reported the death of the most eccentric and reclusive billionaire, Sir Reginald Hargreeves." A bored reporter states while the title of the segment was blaring red on the screen of the small television.
