We slept so close together that I could hear his heart beat going the regular speed it should. He's healthy I said to myself. I kissed his sleeping lips and got up. I took my pill and got dressed, I was going out to buy Sam's parents a present. I went to the store and while shopping I heard an odd but familiar voice.
"Bea? Oh my god Bea is that you?" I turned around to see my old annoying high school friend.
"Oh... Hey Melissa," I said trying to make it obvious I didn't want to talk.
"How have you been! Oh I missed you! Do you remember Martha from high school, she's dating the head of the football squad, remember him?" She said.
"Not really Melissa, look I gotta go-" I said before she cut me off.
"Nonsense, I'll help you," she said. She followed me all around the store like she did in high school. I picked up a bottle of wine which caused her to just start laughing. I stared at her but she couldn't stop.
"It's like 10 in the morning, what are you an alcoholic?"
"No, even if I was do you think that's the best thing to say?" She immediately stopped.
"Sorry."
"Well Melissa, this catching up has been great, but I gotta go."
"Oh my god I'm coming with you!" She said joyfully. I paid for my things and got in my car with Melissa who I really felt like pushing out of the car but whatever. When we got home I opened the door quietly in case Sam was still sleeping. I didn't see him anywhere, so I looked in the room and seen he was still sleeping.
"Oh my god Bea your apartment is so nice!" Melissa sqweeled.
"Melissa! Shh, my boyfriend is sleeping," I said slowly getting angrier.
"You have a boyfriend? Is he hot?"
"Well I think he is, you'd have to judge that for yourself."
"Wake him up."
"No."
"You guys have a long night?"
"No!"
"Bea?" I heard Sam say from the room.
"Hey stud," I said in a flirty voice.
"Hey baby," he came out of the room with no shirt on but then when he saw Melissa he closed the door again.
"Alright Melissa, time to leave."
"Oh your going to get some ass, I get it see you later bestie." She left and I sighed.
"Is she gone?" Sam asked from the room.
"Yes," I said. He came over and walked over to me and hugged me.
"So question-" he said before I cut him off.
"I know what you're going to say, and she was this annoying ass girl who followed me in high school."
"Well that's great, are you ready for tonight?"
"Besides being super anxious, and freaked out... Yeah I'm great."
"C'mon they will love you, because I love you."
"Aw, look how cute you are."
"Shut up." He smiled and gave me a quick kiss. He then started to kiss my neck which tickles so I started laughing out loud.
"Sam stop!" I laughed.
"Alright, I need to shower," he said stretching his arms.
"Maybe I'll come and join you." I smiled. We ran to the bathroom and did our stuff. The day went on with us hanging out in Central Park, and going to different shops all around the city. Hours later it we were getting ready for our big night... More like bigger night for me, meeting the parents. I never met any boyfriends parents, maybe in like middle school and high school when nothing was serious, but this time it's different, I actually love this guy and didn't want his parents hating me.
"So are your parents fancy?" I called out from the bedroom while he was in the bathroom.
"What do you mean?"
"Like do they do fancy dinners?"
"Bea, doll face, dress fancy but not too fancy." I sighed and figured I'd just wear a fancy shirt with leggings and some high heels. I kept my hair straight, put in some earrings did a small bit of make up and I was done. I started to scramble looking for stuff I probably didn't need.
"My lovely, what are you so worried about?" Sam asked watching me scramble.
"I'm worried that my super serious boyfriend parents won't like, then it will cause us to drift away and hate each other. How do I explain I've been dating you for almost 7 months now with never meeting them once and... Ugh! I'm just nervous!" I yelled stopping and putting my face in my hands.
"Darling, you have nothing to be worried about, trust me." Sam came over to me and hugged me. I took a couple deep breaths to calm me down and realized I didn't take my pill yet tonight. I went into my purse, took out a pill and swallowed it.
"I'll be better here in a minute, I just need to gather myself." I took a few more deep breaths then we were on our way.
As we drove up the drive way I was amazed by their house.
"Wait, your parents live here?" I asked.
"Oh, did I not mention they are crazy rich?" He asked jokingly. I stared at him with no words then when he got out it took me a few seconds but I also got out.
"Sam... I do not belong here."
"Stop it, you'll do great." We walked up to the house and knocked. I was in front so the first face they will see. The door opened and I had a small smile on my face. When the door opened it was only Sam's parents standing there.
"You must be Bea! It is such a pleasure meeting you! Come in come in!" Sam's mother said. We walked in and got settled.
"Bea, these are my parents David and Ruby Price." Sam said. When I looked at David I seen a lot of Sam. But Ruby looked nothing like Sam. Sam has David's green eyes and brown hair, while Ruby had black-grey hair and sky blue eyes.
"I've heard nothing but great things," I said, which was so obviously a lie, I didn't even know they were rich.
"Are you sure? I feel like Sam isn't the one to tell anyone that their parents are crazy rich," David said.
"If you don't mind me asking, how are you guys rich?" I asked.
"Sammy, you're supposed to give the scoop. Well my father was a very famous and wealthy banker, he owned Bank Price, now I run the bank, Ruby also helps out with it," David said.
"Bank Price, that's my bank!" I said amazed.
"Well Sammy, why don't you give Bea the tour and we'll get dinner started." Ruby said. Sam started to show me all around the giant mansion.
"So floor one is basic household stuff like living room, kitchen, dining room, lounge, then upstairs there are 6 bedrooms, and the basement has the game room and home theater," Sam said. I was speechless, this house was outstanding. He showed me his childhood room which was filled with movie posters and space stuff.
"I'm sorry, who's the nerd now?" I asked. He just looked at me and smiled. We made our way downstairs where we heard the sound of one kid whining and another one cheering, the boy was yelling happily, he probably beat the girl at a video game.
"What's all this racket down here!" Sam yelled.
"Sam!" The kids yelled. They ran over to him and hugged him. Both kids had Ruby's black and blue eyes.
"You guys this is my girlfriend, Bea. Bea these guys are my brother Clark, and my sister Bella."
"Nice to meet you guys," I smiled.
"I like your hair!" Bella said. "Thank you!" I said. All she did was smile.
"Sam she's pretty," Clark said softly.
"You don't have to whisper I'm sure she'd like to hear you say it." Sam said equally as soft.
"You're pretty," Clark said getting all flustered.
"Thank you Clark, you are a very handsome young man." He just looked away with red cheeks.
"Alright guys I need to give Bea the rest of the tour, now why don't you guys go get ready for dinner," Sam said. They nodded and ran upstairs.
"So they look to be about 11 or 12, and you're 27, how does that add up? I also noticed they look nothing like you," I said.
"Well my dad had a falling out with my bastard of a mother, she left me behind right after I was born. My dad was about 15 when I was born, then when I was 15 he met Ruby, right away they got married and had more kids, Clark is 12 and Bella is 11. They are my half sibling but I don't like to think of them as that. Ruby has treated me like her own and so have I. I never met my real mom and I don't think I'd want to."
"It's good you have a connection with your sibling," I said. He turned to me and held me close to him. "So now I learned why your house is so nice."
"And you're telling me this now?"
"Well I didn't want to seem rude. So are you gonna go find a hotter younger woman to date now?"
"What are you talking about? You're only 26 that how low I'd go."
"I love you... Sammy."
"Do not even start that." I laughed when we heard Ruby call down that dinner was ready. Now for the real test.
We all sat at the dinner table and so far it was pretty awkward.
"So, Bea what do you do for living?" Ruby asked.
"Right now I'm an office salesman. But I hope maybe I can get into the writing business," I said.
"Oh! That's nice, who's your favourite author?" She asked.
"Stephen King." David and Ruby shared a glance.
"That's David's favourite too, he scares me too much." I chuckled softly.
"Are your parents still around?" David asked. Sam kind of made a gesture to stop them. I put my hand on his to let him know it's ok.
"Um, my father is still around, we actually went over to his place last night, but my mother has passed.
"Oh I'm sorry," David said.
"It's ok, I'm sure it was bound to come out sometime."
"I like your makeup Bea, did you do it by yourself?" Bella asked me. Bella was a bit chubbier then other girls but it was baby fat and I wasn't judging.
"I did," I said.
"Wow, how did you get so good?"
"I practiced."
"I've been practicing, can you do my make up after?"
"Sure, I'll teach you a couple tricks." When I said that I winked at her which caused her to look at me in amazement. The rest of the dinner was David telling stories about the funny things Sam did as a kid. Dinner was finally over and I think I did pretty good.
"Let me help you with dishes you guys," I offered Ruby and David.
"Oh no that's ok, you can go with Bella, I've got Sammy. It's ok dear," Ruby said. I smiled at her and followed Bella to her room. It was covered floor to roof in pink and purple.
"Wow, you have a really cool room Bella, you're one lucky girl," I said looking around.
"Thanks, I love all my stuff. Over here is my makeup," she said. I walked over to her vanity and looked around at her make up.
"Alright I can work with this. So I see you don't have any foundation or concealer, which is good, you have a beautiful clear face and you wanna keep it natural for as long as possible, when you need to cover up, I'll help you with that too. So you have beautiful sky blue eyes, blue eyes look best with blue and natural colors. Alright close your eyes." She closed them and I started to put a blue-grey color on, some mascara and a little bit of eye liner. I showed her in the mirror which made her sqwak.
"I love it!"
"Now you have to practice, lots and lots then you'll get really good. But remember you don't always need make up, you're a very pretty girl. Ready to go show your parents?" She hopped up at ran into the kitchen.
"Guys look!" She yelled. Everyone looked at her and their reactions were genuinely shocked, I think they were going to fake it but they got a little treat.
"Don't worry mom, I won't wear it all the time. I'm pretty without it also." I seen Ruby got teary eyed.
"I'm speechless you look amazing sweetheart. Bella ran back to her room and I hug out in the living room with Sam. After a while it was time for us to leave.
"Thank you so much for having me," I said.
"Our pleasure, come back any time," David said as we were walking out the door.
"Thank you again Bea," I heard Bella say. I smiled and watched as she and Clark gave Sam giant hugs.
"Just remember Bella you don't always need make up," Sam said.
"I know, Bea told me I am pretty," she ran her own way and we finally left.
"That was fun, thanks for making us do this," I said. We got home and while Sam was getting ready to go to bed I stayed in the kitchen and looked at my prescription bottle of anti-depressants. I opened it but didn't take the pill. I hesitated with it in my hands and decided to put back. I went into the room and also got ready for bed.
