River's POV
I am reading a book in bed when I see Gordon's light come on, signaling that he's back from the dance. I grab the journal and head over to the window. I didn't have a super great time at the dance. Jaxon wound up leaving early because someone spiked the Diet Coke and Kam and B.B. wound up getting drunk off of it. He apologized multiple times before leaving and taking them home. Bay and Katie and her friends went with them. I stayed for about a half an hour after they left before leaving myself. I wanted some more root beer, but there were some people by the table and I didn't want to bug them.
I peer into Gordon's room and seem him flopped out on his bed. His window is open, so I tap on my glass and he looks up at me. I smile at him and point to the journal. He nods and grabs his own. I'm still wearing my dress from the party but under a robe, as he is still wearing his tux and mask. He pulls off his mask. He looks slightly flushed, as if he had run out after someone and he has a goofy grin on his face. He smiles at me and I raise my eyebrows at him.
I quickly write down, What's up with you?
He writes back. I met this girl at the dance.
Oooooohhh! What's her name?
She didn't tell me. She told me I have to guess.
That's weird. Do you think it's a trick and someone was trying to rouse you?
He looks at me in disbelief and snakes his head. He actually looks angry now. He throws the journal on the ground and shuts off his light. Well, that was a weird reaction. I sigh and start to get dressed for bed within ten minutes, I'm asleep.

"River your brother is going to leave without you if you aren't ready!" my mother yells at me. I roll my eyes and laugh. But I add one last swipe of lipstick on and run downstairs, pulling my backpack onto my shoulder as I do so.
I give Mom a quick kiss on the cheek before rushing out after my brother. He's waiting in the car and I jump in the seat next to him with a smile. We drive down to the school within minutes. As Bay pulls into the parking lot, everyone stares at us. I keep my head down, but Bay, being the charismatic guy that he is, smiles and waves at the people he met at the dance.
I see Jaxon and the baseball boys standing near the parking lot. They see us drive up and they wave at us. Bay parks and I hop out, heading towards them. A few of them are dressed in football uniforms, like Jaxon, Riley and Kam, but the rest look normal.
Jaxon smiles at me as I approach and I blush a dark red. "Hey guys."
"Hey baby," Riley says. "How you doing?"
