JUNGKOOK

The glorious time we've all been waiting for has finally come. That 45 minute break every student dreams of, even once it's past. Lunch

Isn't it beautiful?

The bell rung about 5 minutes ago, meaning I've had enough time to leave the classroom, without forgetting to say a little goodbye to my professor, and just about arrive at my locker to put away my things. Of course, a certain ashy-blond beanie-wearing boy has to get there faster than me.

"Hey Kook, I thought it'd be okay to walk with you to the cafeteria. In case you'd get lost on the way, obviously." He doesn't forget to give his signature boxy grin as he rushes the last bit of his sentence.

"Get lost?" I chuckle. "Sure, why not. I'll just get my stuff"

He simply nods as I reach into my bag to grab my lunch box, prepared by that loving mother of mine. Standing back up, I notice my friend's awfully empty hands. Due to curiosity, I have to ask

"Where's your lunch?"

"I don't have much food at home," He says quietly "I'll just buy myself a muffin or something"

"Alrighty"

"Alrighty?" We've already started heading towards the cafeteria as the question surfaces into the conversation.

"Oh yeah.." I scratch the back of my neck as I let out a wary laugh "It's just something I say... Just 'alright' with a 'y' at the end. It's nothing..."

Out of nowhere, I feel a hand make its way onto my shoulder. As fast as it got there, the feeling soon disappears as Tae goes

"That's cute, mind if I use it?"

A bit flustered, my "sure" sounds a bit off, making the latter let out a laugh.

"Alrighty, sounds good"

The rest of our walk continues with more awkward laughs, but with more comfortable silence at times. It isn't long of a walk, so there isn't much to worry about.

We find Hobi and Namjoon sitting at a table near the back of the room as we make our entrance.

We wouldn't have seen that at first, but our lovely Hobi had to announce to the whole cafeteria that "WE'RE SITTING AT THE BACK! OVER HERE, TAE AND JUNGKOOKIE!"

Instead of standing there dumbfounded for another few minutes, Tae and I decide that since they're our friends, we couldn't be bothered by Hoseok's loud spirit.

With a welcoming "Hey guys", Namjoon smiles at us a little uneasy. Result of Hobi

Due to those already at the table being seated next to each other, I'm left sitting next to Tae for today. Not complaining or anything, just something I'd like to keep noted.

"Since Kookie is new here, we must let him join the way one must join our... organization" 

"What, is this a ritual or something?" I question Hoseok's  interesting statement

Tae and Hobi exchange a nod before Taehyung responds with,

"Oh yes it is"

"Guys, please don't scare him. Let's please be somewhat normal for the time being..."

"Not a fucking chance brother" Tae declares as he firmly grasps my arm, bringing it onto the table.

My friend's delicate fingertips brush against my forearm as he quietly hums to a song that I don't recognize. I let out a soft giggle as he lets his fingers run up from my wrist to the crease of my elbow, a smirk forming itself onto Tae's face as a response.

I can't help but smile when he starts singing the song he was humming, although I still don't recognize the tune...

"I still wonder, wonder beautiful story

Still, wonder, wonder best part

I still wander, wander next story

I want to make you mine"

As he pronounces the last few words, Taehyung lets go of my arm and shares a loving smile towards the group. I simply stare at him in awe as he does so.

"That was beautiful" I let out unknowingly, without having the time to catch myself

"Thank you..."

- Too late now -

"What was that I've never heard it before?"

Taehyung fiddles with the hairs at the back of his head as he shyly responds with,

"Just a song I wrote...."

"I'd love to hear the rest of it someday," I say, soundly more confident around everyone

"Someday..."

"Welp" Namjoon interrupts "That wasn't what I had expected, but how about we actually eat since it's lunch"

We all simultaneously nod our heads and dig into our lunches. All of us, beside Taehyung who, although he mentioned something about buying his lunch, is just on his phone

You know what they say, curiosity killed the cat.

"Tae, aren't you gonna eat something?" I worriedly ask

"Oh yeah, yeah of course. I'm just-" He looks around the cafeteria, to check the line near the cash register. It being extremely long, he responds with "I'm just gonna wait for the line to get shorter... So I don't have to wait too long, and we could talk more..."

"Oh okay, I just want to make sure you eat enough. Do you want a bit of my food? I have yogurt, banana chocolate chip muffin, you can have the other half of my sandwich-"

"I'm vegan" He interrupts

"Huh?"

"I'm vegan... I don't eat meat or things with milk, eggs...." He awkwardly reply's

"Oh no no, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have just assumed it'd be fine. I should've asked your preferences in food, I'm sorry I-"

"Hey hey, it's okay. I'm not offended or anything. I just thought it'd be a good idea to tell you before you continue listing off all the 'no-no's of veganism" He laughs a little, easing the tension in the air

"Sorry.."

"You sure do apologize a lot." Taehyung goes on, trying to help me relax a bit "Don't worry about it. I swear, it's nothing to make a big deal about. Thanks for the offer though. I would've taken it against waiting for that long ass line to shorten, but it's all good"

I simply nod in understanding, but still, let my head down for a little while to get rid of the embarrassment. But a few moments after, a soft head reaches for my chin and brings it up, leaving me to face no other than Kim Taehyung.

"Hey, it's okay"

A smile forms onto my lips as he mimics my expression then gets up and goes towards the 'long ass line' as he said it.

He didn't seem too pleased with the idea when I had first mentioned it, but now Tae's giving me the largest grin any 16 year old could give.

Except there's me, who's doing the exact same thing.
