JUNGKOOK
"Boys, supper's ready!"
As I hear my mom's voice from the kitchen upstairs, I get up from my bed and head over to the stairs. You see, I live in a small one-story house which means there are only two bedrooms. One for my mother and one for my brother. When we were little, my brother and I would share a room, but when we got older, and he got his first boyfriend, I ended up uncomfortable without my own space to relax. And sometimes, two guys making out on the bed right next to you isn't really relaxing. Although it's not the fanciest, as in it doesn't have a door, having my bedroom in the basement is much nicer than with Jimin.
I'm not necessarily fully focused on walking up the stairs, which leads to me being very slow. I'm not really a 'multitasker' so I pay more attention to what's in my hands.
Don't worry, I'm not jerking off. That'd be weird since I'm standing. And other reasons...
I'm actually just playing a game on my phone. I've been trying to complete every level for a week or so, and I've finally reached the final boss. There's no pause button on these types of games, so if I were to close my phone, I'd have to restart the level as a whole. And I rather not do that since boss-levels are longer and much more challenging. More obstacles and enemies to pass. Loads of bullets and fireballs to dodge. And generally, more PC's to talk to. Even if they may help, I hate that it takes forever to finish a conversation with these dudes. But I've passed them all and now the real battle's just begun.
It takes me a while, but once I land the final punch, I can finally go eat as my mom called me to do seven minutes ago. She isn't the type of mom to be mad if you're late for supper, but she does give a disappointed look since the food might've gotten cold. She has her priorities straight.
As I get to the last step, I notice a pair of feet right in front of me. I lift my gaze, not as high as I thought I would, to find my brother smiling brightly towards me.
"Kookie, you coming or what?"
I grin and shove past him. I mean, I could've answered him properly, but he's my brother. It'd be a little weird for me to be polite to him. Jimin quickly follows behind me as I walk into the kitchen and grab a plate. When I sit down at the dining table, my mother gives me 'the look' and I can't help but laugh a little.
"It's about time. I almost had to eat it all myself. Not that I wouldn't"
She laughs. We join in. And suddenly, the dining room becomes quiet. Slightly awkward, but too much tension for anyone to break the silence. I'm not too sure what's going on. But I do know that she needs to tell us something. The first time this happened, it was about my father. But I rather not get into that. As I continue to drown myself in thoughts, I get pushed back into reality by the sound of my brother's voice.
"Jungkook, let go of your phone. We're eating"
I do as I'm told since it isn't a big deal. The credits were rolling and I'm used to this rule. Ever since I can remember, we've had this rule of against any type of electronics while we eat. Many families do so and if they don't, I personally believe they should. It's a nice way to stay connected to your loved ones. Supper time is when we communicate to one another, not the time to watch TV, listen to music or, in the scenario, play a video game. At first, I never really liked this rule, but I got used to it and now I get the purpose.
We continue eating in a more comfortable silence until it's interrupted by my mother.
"Alright Kiddos, I've got some news for you"
